50 Ways to Improve Student Behavior

Someone gave me this book part way through my first year and it really helped me with my classroom management. Some of the techniques are a easy as saying good morning to every students as they walk in, which really does make a difference. Some are a bit more complicated, but all of them are reasonable and doable. Most of the tips are pretty short making the book quick and easy to read. If you follow the advice in the book and stick with it, your classroom really could transform. The tips are not specific to either elementary, middle, or high school; this book is great for teachers of all levels.I buy this book for anyone I know who is about to become a first year teacher. I think it would also be helpful for veteran teachers who want to change things up or have a challenging class. The only thing I don't love about this book are the corny poems, but they can easily be skipped.

I love this book! It gives short simple steps to follow to improve behavior in your classroom! Very easy to read, remember and understand what you need to do!

Pros: For new teachers this book is excellent. It intriduces new teachers to different problems and strategies for classroom management. Gives interesting ideas why students behave the way they do. And what teachers may do to manage certain situations.Cons: The book is a little bit on the idealistic side. It appears like all situations could be handled but this is not the case where I work. Not all strategies were discused. There are not always simple solutions to problems in the classroom as presented in the book.

I purchased this book to teach a book study for educators. It was a hit! The chapters were short and powerful. The discussion forums were very busy with teachers processing the tips and the ways they plan to implement new ideas.

Lots of effective strategies that won't make you feel like a jerk. Examples and non examples to show how the strategies work.

Bought this book to teach a professional development after hearing Todd Whitaker speak at a conference. Basic strategies for classroom management that one often forgets about but still very useful in everyday instruction.

An excellent book with some very practical ways to encourage students to be behave. The short chapters are easy to digest and make it a fast read.

This is a fabulous book for all teachers!! It is a must read for new teachers!!!!
