DIY Solution
When my washing machine failed to operate I quickly discovered that this small piece of plastic had broken, causing the switch that the lid engages to fall away from the body of the washing machine. I didn't want to call to have a technician service the machine as I know it would be costly for such an inexpensive part. I looked up the make and model of my washer and soon discovered a website that identified the exact piece I needed to replace. A quick search on Amazon and bingo! I found what I needed for under $10. I was able to replace the broken old part with this new one and the machine was fixed.

Easy fix
I tossed a wet rag into my washer while the lid was open, but I missed, hit the lid, and caused it to come crashing down. The bezel broke, but the rest of the lid lock sensor was fine. To replace this bezel you need to remove the front panel, then turn some torx screws from underneath while simultaneously pulling on them - it helps to have a partner holding the broken plastic remnants from above with a pair of pliers. Once the broken one is gone, it's just a matter of lining up the new one and screwing it in with the old screws. Overall it was quite easy if you have any skills with tools. Be sure to unplug the washer before doing this.

Biggest Flaw on a Speed Queen
I love my Speed Queen, but this part is junk. Broke within a year of having our washer. We bought several of them to have on hand as we know it will have to be replaced again. Good news is these are cheap and easy to replace. All you need is maybe two people in order to get the broken pieces off. We used tweezers while the other person unscrewed it. Took about 5 minutes and only had to pay for the part which was very inexpensive.

Breaks off easily
Breaks off at the screw holes after a few weeks. Had two of them do this.
