The quality of this drive is solid with a robust albeit plastic casing and an aesthetically striking design. Burning seems reliable and quick, I haven't tested on PC but performance on Mac systems with appropriate software (See paragraph below for details) is quick and reliable. Setup of the drive itself was easy, although if you have a Mac there is one major caveat: The bundled software is for PC only. so if you need authoring software then you will need to find a solution that works for you, which if you have an M1 or M2 Mac could prove a problem as Roxio Toast, the former market leader in burning software for Mac computers has a somewhat spotty reliability record on these newer machines. This is not a reflection on the drive, which remains a solid piece of kit, but more indicative of the less than pro-active attitude many software companies have towards keeping ahead of the curve regarding software production for the Mac platform. These software niggles are in no way the fault of Asus, nor are they exclusive to this particular drive, just something to bear in mind if you have a newer M1 or M2 Mac.

Its expensive, it's not the latest style, but it's right for me. I've had on of the new CD drives with the horrible click to secure style & I have always disliked it as Im always worried about not loading the disc correctly & lets not even talk about removing the disc. Disappointed I had to buy a Uk power lead as this was only supplied with a 2 pin euro version. Generally very happy, not fussed about playing Blu Rays, DvD's, I just wanted a CD Rom like this. Rip's CD's to my Mac at a good speed & has been of perfect quality. And before anyone questions what I do I, rip my CD's so I can play then off my Mac & I store all of my CD's (and I have a huge collection) as I don't have the space in my room. I recommend this CD to anyone needing a quick, reliable, efficient device with a power plug (see previous note) and excellent functionality. Mid May 2025 Disc has started to fail. Miss reads discs not being read. I’ve reverted back to my old CD / Blu Ray and despite my reservations works perfectly. I can’t recommend this disc any more and have dropped the star rating.

Lo compre para un familiar, el único detalle a destacar es que no incluye el adaptador para conectarlo a la corriente 🔌 en México, siendo un producto europeo el conector es diferente. Fuera de eso, funciona excelente para leer CD, DVD y Blu-ray sin problema alguno. Lo recomiendo ampliamente 👍🏻

Perfect! The only thing that could bother some is the size. This is a full size 5.25 drive enclosure. Mine was a Pioneer drive inside which is a huge plus. Don’t know if all are. Read and writes anything. At the fastest speeds. Good tool for a laptop were you might not use discs for a long time. When you need, just hook it up to read and write.

Ik was eerlijk gezegd op zoek naar een interne blu-ray brander, echter zijn deze niet meer verkrijgbaar. Hierdoor ben ik voor deze externe brander gegaan. Tot ophalen geen problemen ondervonden en backups kunnen maken van oude schijfjes.

Great burner no errors yet like my previous Pioneer.
