It has an auto mode that once it fully charges the battery it will switch to maintainer mode and trickle charge it without ruining it. So yes.

On the SC1279 - this depends on the age of the battery and the beginning voltage, the draw on the battery and if the battery needs any type of desulfation

Q: Why does it say you can use it with lithium batteries in the description, but in the questions here the manufacturer says it won't charge lithium?

I have only used it to charge a car battery. Works fine for that but being only 8 amp a slow charge. Would not use on lithium batteries if directions don't support that type. Lithium batteries are volatile and could start a fire.
