Klutz Face Painting Craft Kit

Being an artist myself I felt I would give face painting a try 6 months ago at my daughter's birthday party. I bought a face paint kit at the local party supply store...... it was the worst experience. The paint was like grease and came with terrible foam tipped plastic applicators. Van Gogh couldn't couldn't have painted a face with this junk. After that experience I was at my kid's school fair where I paid $10 each to have my kid's faces painted by a professional working the fair. I told the pro about my past experience and asked for advice. Here is what she told me-"Buy this book, it is a perfect guide to teach you how to face paint. It comes with all sorts of diagrams and ideas. I actually still use it to help kids choose what they want when they are undecided. The book comes with the basic color pallet of Wolfe Brothers face paints. Make sure you only buy Wolfe Brothers face paint, they are the standard, the best, they blend beautifully and are very easy to work with"Well I took her advice, I ordered the book with the attached basic color pallet as well as ordering a separate full color pallet of Wolf Brothers face paint from Amazon. I had another birthday party coming up and I was determined to do a great job on the kids. I practiced a few times on my kids before the party and was very pleased with the book and the quality of the paint. The paint is very easy to work with and only requires a very small amount of water on the brush to get a nice opaque strong color. That is the main thing I learned...a very small amount of water goes a long way.Well the birthday party was a blast. I painted butterfly faces, princess faces, dog faces, arm tattoos, bracelets, etc. All the parents were amazed and numerous parents asked me for the information regarding this book and paint.I highly recommend this book for anybody wanting to learn how to face paint! I don't know anything about face painting, but wanted something fun to provide during my kids' slumber parties. I picked this up because of the great reviews and I was not disappointed! The colors are vibrant and wash off easily. The book has step by step directions so you won't get lost. I painted four full faces (two tigers, a leopard and a fairy) in less than half an hour. Notably, it was so easy and quick that two of the under-five crowd were able to sit still while I did their faces. The quantity of paint seemed untouched, and looks like it will last a long time.My only recommendations are getting extra colors, and providing your own makeup sponges. If you are not into mixing colors, you may want to invest in some extra colors (orange for the lion/tiger/leopard faces would be helpful, and for girls, pink, purple and turquoise are must-have colors and metallic paint would really make the fairy face magical.) Sponge makeup wedges available in any drug store for a couple of bucks, and worked so much better than the one provided for the blending. I would probably get a couple of different paint brushes (or better yet makeup brushes) in different thicknesses for better detailing.-karen takataniBe sure to have a headband with you to bring hair away from the face during painting. A stand mirror is nice as the kids want to constantly check on your progress. Have fun with this great kit!

Love it!!!My daughter wanted face painting for her birthday and after getting quotes from professionals in the area I decided to handle the job myself. The only problem was I had NO prior face painting experience. I started researching face paints, brushes, techniques, designs and youtube videos when I came across this little gem. It has everything that you need to make your first face painting endeavor a success (bright, vibrant paints, a brush, and a sponge - which I have yet to use). Best of all it comes with a easy to follow book of instructions and pictures which even a novice can follow.When this book arrived, my kids bravely volunteered to serve as face and hand models for me. And within minutes they had a sweet dinosaur, cupcake, car, flower and cat to show off. They couldn't be happier. The book has ideas for your kids birthday party (complete with tear outs pictures and an envelope that you can put them in and take to your party). The advanced face painters will also find halloween face painting ideas, super hero paint ideas etc. I mostly focused on the beginner techniques/pictures. Also, note that the red and green colors (and any combination of those two) cannot be used around the eye area.Plus- the price is fantastic on Amazon. I got this for about $15 here after checking out prices at Walmart, toys R us and JoAnn. The only price that came close was Target at $16.96.
