I was hoping for better, but it is not bad. Just not great.
A lot of covers, and most of his hits were slower tunes (I prefer more up tempo with steel and fiddles). Again, not a bad cd - just not great.

Great!
I waited 5 years to pick up a copy of this box set, and upon finally listening to the entire collection, it was well worth the cost. Luman was a very reliable singer, and I would say 90% of the music on this collection is great stuff. If there's one quibble, it's the sheer amount of songs and a few redundancies (like 4 different takes of "Come On Home And Sing The Blues To Daddy), but if you're a fan of Luman, pick it up! You won't find a better collection of his country work because this pretty much IS his country work!

Four Stars..
This is quite a tough one for me to review.I love some of Bob Luman's stuff here especially the Polydor material like The Pay Phone and She's A Proud lLady right at the end of his career and his excellent singing and enthusiasm permeate every song here. Overall though there were just a few too many predictable song titles and a lot of the slower material sounded rather samey to me.Bear Family's contribution via the paperback book and sound quality is as wonderful as usual and it is marvellous to get a package of this quality on Bob Luman but the material just isn't quite strong enough to justify 5 stars.
