Marvin Schooley dreamt one night about ice fishing with a pole he had never seen before. The next day, he began to put together the first prototype of his Original Spring Bobber Pole. Ice fishing with family and friends became testing ground for his Spring Bobber Pole invention. Everyone was so amazed with his prototype. They began to ask him to make one for them. So, Mr. Schooley began to take request for his creation. With an entrepreneur spirit, Marvin Schooley applied for his first patent and formed an ice tackle business named Schooley Ice Tackle. During the 1960's Mr. Schooley made improvements to his Spring Bobber Pole and developed more ice fishing tackle for his clientele. These years mark the birth of several new products. Today, Schooley's Ice Tackle remains a family owned business in Greenville Michigan. We hope that you enjoy using Schooley's Ice Tackle products to "Catch'em Thru The Ice!".

poorly made
This rod is made with no attention to detail. The rod goes into the handle cocked to the right real hard and none of the guides line up straight.

Garbage!
Absolute disappointment. Eyes were all crooked, rod was poorly glued to handle, oozing glue. Handle was cheap foam. Very poorly made. This should not have passed quality control. The resin was uneven throughout the rod. Bought the Shakespeare noodle rod and that has a better build than this. I wouldn’t even give this 1 star!

In memoriam
Because of the length I loved the rod in the shanty, but, unfortunately, mine was no match for a freaking carp. It snapped in two, but the memory is intact.

Arctic blue, the rod for you
Used a couple of these along with a few more expensive rods I have for ice fishing this past winter, and these rods performed as well as any other I own. I use them for pan fish, would be a little light for fish such as pike or walleye.

Don't bother
I am an avid angler. I like a short rod with a little backbone but very sensitive for sight fishing. The first rod that was delivered was as described by other buyers: glue gobs all over, little rubber gasket where handle meets shaft not glued, guides bent, and the tip was twisted out of shape. Shipping in a bubble envelope should be reconsidered.I figured a second chance was warranted due to the rod being exactly what I wanted , and purported to be made by a family business, and in the USA.The second arrived and it was in much better shape but still whoever did the glueing again missed the the little rubber seal and hit the handle..Sadly it failed field testing as the guides and eye are not closed . Yup, there is a tiny gap in every guide and the eye large enough that 2#braid easily popped out. It's a real shame because I the sensitivity and action were perfect for the application I had intended.
