Prevents odors, and bugs from escaping. Works as described.
We have a cabin that uses a septic tank and the plumbing system was installed without a ptraps so we had some odors and ocationally bugs coming from three drains these fixed it. Prevents odors, and bugs from escaping. Works as described provided you have the depth reqired. If you have a bathtub or shower measure your drain size and get the maximum size that will fit for adequate drainage they work just fine

I cant recommend
They wont do as expected. Since the top piece does push down into metal ring, if there is a back they will simply be pushed out. So the flap at bottom intended to keep backflow from coming up is pointless. This is a terrible design.
