basic HDTV and general purpose computer monitor

Very nice TV at a great price, but customer service, not so good
I purchase this TV to replace my CRT on which the brightness and contrast cannot be increased any more and the picture often turns dull yellow. What a difference in the picture and sound. Even the black and white shows look fantastic. This is a great TV for the money and it has very simple and basic features. It's perfect for me because I just want digital broadcast channels and to play DVD movies. Those who are looking for a smart TV will have to buy something else. I like this one better than the $800 flat screen I used to have before the hot weather caused it to have a melt down. The screen size is perfect for a small room and you won't sacrifice quality to get a good picture. The base is stable once you get it assembled. Unfortunately, the quality of the LED display on my set has diminished in less than a year so I had it set out to Sceptre to have it repaired or replaced. The picture became very dull and the color, contrast and tint are no longer as good as what they were when the set was new. Customer service claimed the TV was fine and are sending it back to me having done nothing. It cost me $32 to ship it to them for nothing even though the set was still under warranty. So beware.

No neck for the stand???
There is no base neck!!?!! I thought this was a new TV. Even so. It should of stated that it didn't come with a neck to the base. Now it's just laying on a table 😳

like driving a new car
Screen quality: 10/10 Sound: 5/10 ... even on regular tv there seems to be an echoing type of sound, but somehow very crisp. I've always had Samsungs so maybe its just the transition, like driving a new car. I've now got used to it, but this TV is NOT equipped to play music! It gets SO static like as if the radio were playing. Have even tried hooking up to speakers, but the sound quality is still awful with music. We have this in a hobby room so it doesn't get that much use, which is why we didn't bother spending a lot of money on a more high quality tv, but it works just fine & serves its purpose otherwise!!

Audio is not acceptable
The display is great. Lightweight, nice colors. But the audio is not acceptable. The built-in audio is low quality and you have to crank it up to 100 (the max) to hear it 12 feet away. So I tried an external speaker (wired) that makes any device sound great, it is only slightly better. The external speak that I'm using has a blue tooth mode (which works great with the iPhone) and a wired AUX. I guess its possible this speaker has the wrong impedance, but I don't know how to check that. If I can't figure out the sound, I will be returning this.

Good buy!
Needed a new computer monitor and this had all the different connections to be able to work with my desk top. Had a little trouble getting the picture/screen size right but was because I was trying screen ratio with the computer and needed to use the tv's screen adjustment. With this being a tv screen I shut it on and off. I do not have timer set on it to go to sleep. When the computer times off the screen goes blue and stays on. The only issue I have is that it has a slight tip forward to it and you cannot adjust its position as it is a screwed in, non moving base. I am very happy with the purchase overall.

Fine as a TV or a monitor
I purchased this for a sick relative while she was in the nursing home since they did offer cable, but did not have TVs in the individual rooms. It was not too costly and I thought that if it looked bad I could fairly easily replace it, also it has a 1080p resolution while many smaller TVs are limited to 720p. After a few months she passed away and I took the TV home. I didn't have the opportunity to see it while she was using it but once I hooked it up I was surprised how nice the picture was for such an inexpensive TV. The picture was nice enough that I took it to use as a monitor on a secondary PC. Not all TVs work well as monitors, but this one is excellent for that purpose. In the end I'm very happy that I got this. In the future I will be looking at more Sceptre products based on this purchase

Pretty good value for a serviceable TV - Sound quality is like really really basic though.
Pretty good value for a serviceable TV - Sound quality is like really really basic though. Haven't tried hooking up other speakers yet - trying to figure out if I want to disconnect PC speakers or something else before I buy speakers. I hooked up a Raspberry Pi 3 to it though for youtube and some basic internet features via HDMI cable running Ubuntu Mate (which has some limitations) - Works great for what I want. Can't access Amazon Prime via the Ubuntu Mate OS - yet - so oh well.
