Awesome Charge Controller that really is Reliable
It's been just over a year since I installed both the Reliable 2500W Pure Sine Way Inverter and the 60 Amp Charge Controller (see my system specs below). The Executive Summary.... both have operated flawlessly.I am looking at swapping my 2500W inverter with a 4000W unit. Doing so will eliminate the need to run my generator to power my deep well pump. This will eliminate the need for my propane generator and allow me to enjoy silent and non-carbon power. I’m writing this review because I noticed many Canadian reviews that are just not accurate. I have pushed this inverter to the upper limit and it has performed flawlessly, powering a freezer, ice maker and doing a load of dishes at the same time. Like all inverters, it has limits. And like all electronics, components sometimes don’t work. DOA happens to all brands. The Customer Service at Reliable has exceeded my expectations and they have been wonderful in helping me on my ‘Solar Journey’. For all those reviews where they complain about not being able to contact Customer Service, have a look at the email provided on their website, or look at the back cover of the user manual or better yet, look at the label on the unit that has their email address. Yes, they are in China, so email them and give them a day to reply. And yes, they have statutory holidays like us, but at different times, so it may take a couple of days occasionally. Now on to the Charge Controller. There is little question that Reliable builds a decent inverter, they have every configuration you could desire. Last year I took a chance with the Charge Controller since they are new to this product. I went with them because from a cost perspective they are comparable to the competition in their class and half the cost of premium brands. I don’t need auto generator start and other features available with the premium brands, I just need to charge the batteries. With my minus 30-degree Celsius January weather, I went with this unit since I am pushing the upper limit in terms of my solar power array. Although my panels are rated 1800W, they can exceed 2000W (hyper VOC) in January and occasionally I have noticed my voltage also nudge past 150V. Unlike the competition, this Charge Controller is rated with an upper limit of 170V, so I don’t need to worry about my panels frying the Charge Controller. The touch screen allows you to easily program the parameters. I can’t walk by the screen without viewing the status, it’s addictive! You need to read and understand the specs of your panels and your batteries, keep your user manuals or download the pdf. Its super easy to setup and program, just follow the instructions. The unit gives default settings which should be fine. My unit defaults 60 Amps and throttles back the power to the batteries once they are full. I am running a 24V battery bank and the Charge Controller algorithm takes it up to 29.2V and then backs it off. It's been running flawlessly for 12 months. Here is my system at my Off-grid Cabin near Algonquin Park in Central Ontario:6 * 305W Panels pole mounted ( 1800W, peaking over 2000W in January) (Celestica)6 * 12V 140 AmpHr AGM batteries (Eaton)2500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Reliable)60 Amp Charge Controller (Reliable)

Unit glitches.
This unit will glitch and not allow you to make any changes to the CC amp rating I purchased 2 of these and both exhibit the same problem. 1 of the 2 allows power to backfeed the solar panels when the sun goes down. Both have software, hardware and data version 1.01. If you receive this version I'd advise you send it back before you are stuck with a useless brick.
