BODUMBean 8 Cup French Press Coffee Maker, Black, 1.0 l, 34 oz

Bodum used to be a brand name people could trust for quality. If this product is a measure of Bodum's idea of quality then I for one am not at all impressed. I purchased this model, as I liked the lockable lid feature. I'm less than impressed, as each time I try to open the top, I have to reassemble it, as it falls to pieces. The whole things feels flimsy. I used to have this model in the 1-05lt size, and it was wonderful and very good quality. Unfortunately the coffee pot was broken during a house move, and I couldn't get the larger size, and so opted for this 1lt size instead. I wish I hadn't wasted my money. I don't think I'll be buying any more Bodum products. Very disappointed.

An updated version of the simple French Press, but I'm not sure the changes are a great improvement. Not having a glass spout the Bodum Bean is much less likely to be broken in the dishwasher, but the inverted glass cylinder tends to slide down within the plastic holder during the washing cycle and then has to be repositioned. The top forms a good seal with the body lessening the liklihood of spills and keeping the coffee hotter for longer, but there are more parts making up the top up which, unless you put it in the dishwasher every day, are a bit of a fiddle to wash by hand.

I have had one of these coffee makers for years and it has been brilliant. So I was so pleased to find another one, but this particular one is rubbish. It is flimsy, the glass doesn't fit properly so it is quite dangerous when you unlock it, plus water gets trapped in between the holder and the glass so as you pour the coffee the water leaks out. And if that's not bad enough it does have a leak, as I'm pouring coffee I'm getting a coffee leak as well as the water. This is not a cheap coffee maker and it's virtually unusable and a complete waste of money. I 'launched' the coffee maker at my Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning - needless to say the guests were not impressed.

Man soll es nicht glauben. Da wird am falschen Ende gespart.Wie man auf dem Bild sieht ist die Verschraubung aus Kunststoff. Diese hat sich gelöst (Lässt sich nicht mehr anziehen) und dadurch ist die Funktionalität nicht mehr gegeben. Diese sitzt nicht fest und der Kaffeesatz lässt sich entsprechend schlecht filtern.Laienhaft würde ich sagen ein Konstruktionsfehler.Besonders ärgerlich dass es keine Hotline zu der Firma Bodum gibt.

What a disappointment! The product arrived broken. The plastic is thin and weak. The design is over complicated and looks like it will last five minutes. Bodum this is a disaster!
