Good heavy hammer
Great heavy metalsmith hammer. May need dressing.

I should've listened to the reviews...
While I do like the price, and it looks the part, everyone talking about issues they have with this hammer got it dead on. The handle is wobbly, feels cheap and flimsy, and is coated with some awful lacquer. The head has voids in the working surfaces. It's completely unusable straight out of the box. Having said that, I'm gonna fit a new handle myself, dress the head and strip the ugly paint off, and make it a decent tool. Even with the effort and buying a replacement handle it'll be cheaper than buying a nice hammer instead. Worth it, but only if you're willing to put the work in. I would not recommend this to anyone who isn't comfortable with some fairly intensive diy.

Nice hammer
The hammer came well packaged, and was absolutely usable right after unwrapping. The handle fit is perfect. It was set with a pound wedge and tight and square. I didn't like the finish on the handle. (personal preference) As some have noted, it was very thick, but It scraped right off with the blade of a sharp knife. The paint on the head was sloppy and too close to the working surface. The cross peen was not quite right. This was easily fixed on the sander, but could also be done with a file. The head is made from high carbon steel. The shape is good, but not perfect. The paint is only OK. fixable, but I would have left it off completely. (minus one star for these flaws) The handle is good quality and well set. Overall, very good and usable as it came, and easily fixable.

Great at the Forge
Solid feel. Sizing toe weight shoes requires a solid hit. These work perfectly and well balanced. Sheering heals on the anvil we’re good as well.

Loose head
Hammer head has come loose from handle. I love using this hammer. I will just fix it and keep on enjoying.

Well-made!
Bought this for my blacksmithing wife. Fits her hand and does the job. Enough said.

thought handle was loose, just broken
I never got a chance to dress or even swing the hammer. I unwrapped the tape from the hammer and noted that the head wobbled. I pulled on the handle and it broke off.Addendum: The second one at least survived dressing. The handle overshoots the head a little, but it's ok. I should have read more of the reviews before purchasing. Having the handle broken from the start is not a complaint that I ever imagined. I am a little surprised that there has not been a reply to my original review, which is the reason that there is not change to the rating.
