Installs like OEM but blue backlight isn't very bright, even on highest setting
Given how time-consuming the replacement process is, I was disappointed to see how little light this KB put out compared to the original KB on my Dell G5 laptop. Otherwise, the KB seems to work just fine and the install process didn't have any hiccups.

Good quality replacement
Bought this to replace a Dell G5 5587 keyboard that had a whole column of keys go out (2, W, S, and X, and the numpad - had also started going), which as a gamer and programmer was a bit of a nightmare TT_TT The keyboard came well-packaged in its own little box surrounded by styrofoam and looking brand new. Fits perfect and lights up well.A note about the replacement process:This is a pretty daunting task if you don't have the proper tools. Use a set of screwdrivers made for small electronics (like a watch repair kit), as there are several screws that will need to be removed and some are suuuper little. Since this is just the keyboard without the metal frame piece, you will also need to bend/fold the cable ribbons yourself so they thread through the frame properly when done. Keep the old keyboard until you are completely finished -- there are white line guides on the ribbons that indicate where the folds go depending on the make of your laptop (on mine, pictured, it was "Dali 15" or "D15" on the smaller cable). Don't be afraid to really crease the fold to make it stay down, and use the sticker side on the big ribbon to tape it down once you've got it. I recommend taking pictures of each step just as a reminder of where things go, since you will need to unplug and replug pretty much everything to get to the keyboard (as another user mentioned, this is why the next time the laptop starts up will take a while, as it is checking all the things that were just plugged in -- it may ask you to reset your system date/time as well, this is totally normal).Alternatively, bring this keyboard and your laptop to a repair shop -- at least you will save on them buying the part for you :P

Feels like the original factory keyboard
The keyboard is working good, the process of changing it requires patience and focus, a lot of screws and parts must be taken off in order to get to the keyboard area, I used a YouTube video as help. Make sure you have the right tools before starting this process, like very small screwdriver with magnet, and a plastic spatula used to detach plastic components. It happened to me that some screw wasn't loosening and I damaged the head and the screwdriver won't grip to it anymore, so if you have some extra tight screw don't damaged the head or you will have a bad time, like me.Returning to the product, it feels smooth and with quality, the blacklit only works when turning on, so I guess is something I have to configure withing the system. For the price, is more than excellent.

Great Quality Keyboard, Especially for the Price - Dell G5 5587
My back space key starting to pop off once in awhile and driving me nuts. The process to replace it was not fun at all but with a little help on YouTube and common sense was completely manageable with patience. The backlight ribbon cable was backwards but was able to flip it around at the connection. I was little worried when I rebooted the laptop and the fans engaged full speed and the screen was blank. After letting it sit for about 2 minutes it rebooted fine and is working perfectly. The backlight quality is very red like the OEM Dell one was. The only issue I see, and its very minor, the backlight under the "{" key is not 100% lit but is not THAT noticeable. Time will tell but I have no issues with this especially for the $26 I paid.

Fits my 5587 perfectly.
Folding the cable is a little difficult, wish they'd included some instructions or a link to a youtube, but if you have the old one as an example its not too hard.

No problems so far
Took me well over an hour to fully install and my hands hurt (but that's Dell's fault, not the keyboard's)The backlight doesn't seem to work. It's entirely possible that I messed up in the installation, but I don't care enough to open it back up right now. Looks the same as the original except without outlines on WASD. Feels like it requires a bit more force to press a key than the original, which I actually like better. Much better than having to carry an external one around.Edit: The backlight actually does work, it's just way dimmer than the stock one. Changed 4->5 stars.

Works!
I bought a new keyboard as the former didn't have the 2,w,s,x row working, besides another few keys, a common problem for a Dell g5 laptop. Installation was easy through youtube tutorials for someone who was opening the computer for the first time. Backlight works as well.Be aware that the folding of the ribbon cables is a nightmare. I think it's the most complicated part as there are no clear instructions. For my Dell G5, the guide "dali 5" was the one to be followed, but it's much more helpful to keep the older keyboard as a reference. Besides this, the whole procedure was not so complex but lengthy, it took me 3 hours to finish, but everything went well. Moreover, even though the keyboard is working, I observed that it came with a small scratch on the cable. Fortunately, it does not affect its performance, and everything works well.
