Do Yourself A Favor and BUY THEM BOTH!
Do yourself a favor. This book, and it's companion volume, Systema Health: 25 Practises For A Lifetime Of Health, Fitness & Wellbeing, BELONG together. You might as well purchase them both at the same time. The 25 drills of one book support the 25 practices of the other, and vice versa. As a practitioner of Systema myself, I found both of these to very helpful. I like the idea of working on drills, from basic to advanced, keeping in mind that we should never really "outgrow" the basics. Matt does a great job of reminding the reader of that dictum. I like his teachings so much that I bought the Kindle versions of these books so I can more easily carry both books with me when I travel. I refer to them often, and I suggest that you will, too.

The instructions and illustrations were basic.
Decent overview of principles but could have contained more applicable knowledge. I read the whole book in half an hour and I'm not sure if I learned something other martial arts haven't taught me yet.

Systema
This little ebook on the Russian martial art of System a is a very good book on learning the basic concepts of what this system teaches and you can apply it to any style that you want.

This book is a great tool for instructors
I've trained under Vlad and instructors for five years. This book is a great tool for instructors! It's also useful for students if you are training under a certified instructor.

Three Stars
Great beginner book, but not for the experienced martial artists looking for more advanced combat applications.

Very good drills to truly get this art!
Being a Systema practitioner, having done these drills in some way, shape or, form I must say that these were excellently articulated.

Too short.
I like the drills. The style reminds me of Aikido with the philosophy of HAN SHI YIQUAN. I will read more.

demonstrates are a great primer to which articulate elements of the four pillars ...
If you are interested in Systema and/or are new to the style - and want to find out more - then this introductory guide is definitely for you. The 25 drills which Matt Hill, a very experienced trainer in Systema, demonstrates are a great primer to which articulate elements of the four pillars approach to Systema (relaxation, breathing, movement and posture) in a very accessible and straight-forward manner. As a practitioner of 15+ years (and an instructor myself), I have found it incredibly useful - especially as there are some great ideas for drills which can be introduced into training sessions and which can be used to assist the understanding of those starting off very effectively. Highly recommended, especially if you want to know more about what its all about.

It freed my mind, body and soul.
Can only speak on a personal level about this book. But these easy to follow combat drills are a brilliant way of removing tension and fear from your body. And helps you to breath and relax instead of not breathing and your body freezing up under some uncomfortable and potentially hostile situations. It literally could save your life one day.

Systema Combat
Building on the "25practices for a lifetime" book by the same author this book continues the theme of clear concise explanations of this fascinating martial art. A book to be read from cover to cover or dipped into to refresh and reinforce a topic.Cannot recommend both book in this series highly enough. Phil M.
