Amazing book
I was sceptical about downloading a time traveller story but I thought I might as well. I am so glad I did. It was not a soppy romance with a predictable HEA end, but a gritty, funny, sad story with highs and lows. The lows took the form of showing the ugly face of war, the complete disregard of the sanctity of human life. The other side was the romance and deep love between two people born years apart, how their strength of character, sense of purpose and humour were in those dark days. I smiled, laughed and could have wept as I read it through and couldn’t wait until the second book came out on April 1st , 2020 with a different ( but satisfactory) conclusion . Of the very few books that I could read again and again, these are on the list. Thank you Elizabeth O’Roark.

Across Time
Most disappointed with the ending At no time did it say it was to be concluded. I will not recommend this to anyone. Waiting enthusiastically to the end only to have it spoilt. Disgrace.

An epic and timeless love story that will captivate your heart
Reviewed by Anna on behalf of KFFThis is book one of a duet and a prequel to the author’s previous books Parallel and Intersect. Henri and Amelie will surely captivate your heart and stir your imagination.Young Amelie Besson, an eighteen-year-old girl goes back fifty years in time (1938) and meets Henri Durand, a protective and moody Frenchman. And yes, you got it right, Amelie is a time traveller albeit a reluctant one. I don’t want to go into too much detail to avoid any spoilers but what I want to delve into are the characters in this timeless love story.Told from a first-person point of view, the author captures the mood and ambience of pre-war France and the mindset of its citizens. It is a fascinating contrast of the modern attitude towards relationships, especially from a woman’s perspective. Amelie’s craving for her mother’s love and acceptance influences her decisions later on in the story. Meanwhile, Henri’s cold and disinterested behaviour towards Amelie is more of a denial of his attraction to her, not approving of her modern and bold outlook in life. The gradual shift or shall I say the excruciatingly slow burn of Amelie and Henri’s romance is so enchanting, a relationship that started in shaky grounds but gradually and steadily builds up to a thunderous climax. I love that even though these two were mostly at odds in the first half of the story, the author gets to present their characters separately and not as an instant couple and no matter how different they are their love has no boundaries.A romantic suspense with a twist, this tale had me on the edge of my seat most of the time; the banter between Amelie and Henri and his sister Marie-Therese is funny and entertaining. The author gave us strong intriguing characters who you'll root for from the first chapter until the last. But be warned, there's a massive cliff-hanger that might make you want to stomp on your Kindle and have a hissy fit! Just remember all good things come to those who wait... until next April that is when book two comes out. I am head-over-heels in love with Ms. O’Roark’s writing style I can’t help but highly recommend this book!

Amazing story, best I have read this year...
The Parallel Diet was my standout read last year so I have been eagerly waiting this story. Yes it is a prequel but could easily be read as a standalone I think. Elizabeth O'Roark is an amazing story teller, one that I feel defies being pigeon holed by a trope. This is an epic love story with a lot of suspense, many twists and turns and a lot of moments where you hold your breath and are scared what's coming next. So glad both parts of this are out now, I did stay up till 6am to finish because I couldn't stop reading.. Amazing books... AMAZING, 5 stars reads are rare for me but I would give this more if I could...

Fab Read
Another epic from Elizabeth O’Roark. I thoroughly enjoyed Across Time, which is the prequel for the Parallel series, focusing on Amelie’s/Sarah’s love story with Henri (Quinn’s father). I was hooked from the beginning. The banter between the pair is highly amusing and this duo give Nick/Quinn a run for their money. The French setting pre-dates WWII by about a year, and whilst I loved the slow pace of a world not ruled by technology, knowing war is on the horizon filled me with dread. I can’t wait to read the conclusion, Across Eternity. I only hope my heart won’t be broken in the end.

Using matchsticks to keep reading
I am so glad I waited to read this as I would not have been able to keep my frustration from boiling over at not knowing the outcome. I waited till two days before the second book came out to read this giving myself a couple of days to complete the book. Yep like that was gonna happen I was using matchsticks to keep my eyes open to keep .I will be right there waiting to click read on the 1st April absolute brilliant book, glued to the pages is an understatement.
