I needed to remove thousands of photos from my phone and this worked fine. The photo stick has simple instructions how how to use. I am not tech savvy so I was unclear what back up meant in regards to the photo stick. In this case it meant download photos. I am still unclear on how to safely remove the device from the phone. It took over one hour to download my photos from my phone to the stick. I would recommend it.

Install device into phone, follow video instructions and it will do the rest. Depending on how many photos it will take some time but it will work. You don't need to understand technology.

Worked, kind of, initially but, after a short while, quit altogether. This app/device is a serious resource hog, which won’t let go of those resources, and ultimately puts a serious drain on the battery. Backing up the photos was easy enough, albeit a sloooooowwww process, but don’t even try creating albums and moving photos to those albums. That’s when everything came to a screeching halt. The app doesn’t work at all now and, even though I’m no longer attempting to use it, my battery shows that PhotoStick is using 70% of my its capacity. Pinterest only shows 3% and I’m a serious Pinterest junky. Hmmm! Oh… and a word about the app itself… it’s awful. Poorly designed and not well thought out. The initial backup and album creation parts were OK but moving the photos over to created albums was not intuitive and cumbersome. And, as a bit of cred on my part, I am a software engineer in a career that spanned about 30 years. As an FYI, I am using an iPhone 14Pro. Parting words: I am deleting the app so I can get my resources back and take the drain off my battery. Ugh!

The product does what it's supposed to do on a computer, but it did not work well on my old phone, which is why I bought it. Although I had fully charged the phone before, as per the reviews I read, thePhotostick Omni is VERY slow, so after 5 hours, my phone battery was totally depleted and shut down, so I only got a fraction of my pictures backed up. I recharged the phone fully but got the same result because the Photostick started from the beginning again. I used it for an old computer, and it worked fine. I am still trying to figure out what I will do about the pictures on my old phone.

I just received my Photostick (after collecting it from the wrong address), and 30 minutes later I have all my files that I wanted to back up from my Android phone. After installing the app, I plugged in the Photostick and watched the video. I hit a glitch when it said to go up to the menu at the top left, because there was no menu at the top left. A quick Google search said to shut down the app, unplug the stick and start over. That did the trick. The next time I got to the screen in question, the menu was there. After that, it was piece of cake. I didn't want to back up my entire phone, just certain files, and that was easy to do by going to "Manage files." The backup was quick, and from there I simply plugged the USB connector into my PC and copied the files over using Windows Explorer. Aside from the one hiccup on installation, this was a home run. It literally took about 30 minutes total to complete what I wanted to do. I definitely recommend this product. And remember, if you don't see the menu they're talking about, just shut down the app, unplug the stick and plug it back in and it should work fine.

My sister is very non-technical, so when she said she wanted a photostick, I knew she was looking for a complete plug and play device. This sounded like just the thing, but I decided I would test and make a little video for her in case she had trouble. I have a fairly new Android phone, so I didn't anticipate any problems. Generally, the problem is that the phone doesn't recognize the Photostick drive. I did all the things suggested--delete the app and reinstall. Unplug and replug the device. I thought it was a bad stick, so I tried it on my PC. Worked like a charm there, but that is not what I was trying to back up. Back to the phone, I tried a generic USB stick to see if the phone could even detect USB drives. It does--just not the Photostick. When I use the back arrow, to go back to the main menu, I get this message: "An error occurred selecting the root folder. Please try again". I have already been through the tutorial and troubleshooting online, but didn't find a solution. So, for my phone, it doesn't work. I am afraid to send it to my sister, because if it doesn't work immediately out of the box, she won't know what to do. I have an old phone I used before I bought the new one and decided to test it on that one. I had better luck with that one. At first I had the same problem with it, but by leaving the stick plugged in while I restarted the phone, it then recognized the stick and it worked as advertised. Based on testing with 2nd phone, I would have given it 4 stars. If I were buying it for my phone 1 star, for my old phone 4 stars. I am going to send it to my sister, but I think there is a 50/50 chance that it will work (an expensive experiment).
