Great watch… was shipped updated version DW-5600UE
The recently updated DW5600UE has several updates over the non-updated version shown in Amazon photo:- LED backlight instead of the previous EL electroluminescent backlight. Not everyone will like this change but it uses less power and results in longer battery life. The LED backlight should outlast the EL and works fine for me.- Expected average battery life is now improved to 5 years (up from 2 years with the EL backlight). Casio is usually conservative with battery life estimates, so yours may last much longer.- Updated module reference 3525.- The LCD display on the updated version appears to be sharper and crisper- The text on the front panel has been updated and de-cluttered a bitThe updated 3525 module may include other improvements, but the list above are the changes I noticed. The G-Shock DW5600 series remains the classic durable timekeeper that we admire and respect… especially when the going gets tough. And this base model is an incredible value… highly recommended.

Very nice!
Great watch! When I read that Casio had switched the DW5600 from EL to LED I decided to try one out.I've been wearing Seiko divers and Timex Ironman watches in recent years but wore a G Shock in the eighties and nineties. The 3525 module is very intuitive and the LED is great (5 year run time). All the features I need with none that I don't. I'm sure this watch is going to see a lot of wrist time.

Indestructible
Short of being hit with a hammer, this watch has been through just about everything. It still looks in great shape and works like new after 5 years of daily use. Even the strap shows only minimal wear. The only thing I’ve had to do so far was change the battery once at around 4 years. It also keeps time really well. It runs only about 30 seconds ahead in one month. I adjust it twice a year, whenever we switch to the daylight savings time and back.Verdict: Nearly indestructible. Will give you many years of use with almost zero maintenance involved. Easy 5 stars.

I've been wearing a watch like this for 20 years and this is my 4 one. It feels nice to wear and has all the info I need wearing it.

All around great
Simple, classic, durable, and priced fair. Can’t go wrong with this watch. Haven't taken it off since purchase, and hasn’t given me a single issue. Keeps time fine since it’s digital, and water proof claims are valid.Great watch for the price.

Great looking watch. Perfect size for small wrist.
I love this watch! Light weight, high quality, looks amazing. Other GShocks are too bulky, they don't look good on small wrists.

Great watch, wish it didn't have EL backlight
The 5600E truly is a great watch! It has mineral crystal glass which is good that it can withstand some scratching, kind of more durable than sapphire. That being said, it was $30 when I purchased it on sale, however, it is normally $50. Still that cost is great for what you get. Which is why I will stay away from the 5600UE for now since it costs twice as much but basically the same watch as this one. But, the backlight is better on the 5600UE than on the 5600E.Now, the EL backlights while they are cool to look at, they don't last nearly as long as LED lights. They last about 1/10th of the LED light as they will dim a lot quicker making it harder to read over the years. If you barely use the backlight it may last you a lot longer. Another thing about the EL backlights is they take 100 ~ 200 volts to light them up, so they have had to install a 1:100 step up transformer in the watch to make it light up. This can be murderous on batteries if you are one that uses the backlight a lot. Over the years they have gotten better at the backlights by adding in a light spreader and maybe even using the white LEDs instead of the orange ones making them brighter. The 5610U has this LED backlight with a spreader and now the same as the 5600UE.This 5600E does have an auto-light feature that you can enable that will make the backlight flash when either your alarm or timer go off making it easier to tell if you are in a hard to hear area. Other than what I have mentioned above about the EL backlight, I think this watch is amazing for what you get!
