Amazing ! Don’t wait.. buy it !!!
I mean… WOW !!! I don’t know where to start with my praise for this book. The characters are all outstanding ! The author has created them all so well that you get so much feeling from this book. Her world building is incredible! I absolutely love the main character, Farren ! She has got to be my favourite female lead from any book I’ve ever read. She just is so brave, clever and bold and she makes decisions that don’t make you want to scream at the book like others I’ve read. She is an amazing main character ! And Stryker … I’m definitely in love with him haha.I don’t want to give any spoilers but I can’t wait for book number 2 to come out ! I have a serious book hangover and feel like I can’t wait even one more day for the next instalment… Watch out Sarah J Maas, this author might just become your competition …

Fast paced, fantasy with a kick a** female protagonist.
In a world where there is a slew of YA fantasy all treading the same path, this has been a refreshing change. There are some places where you think you know the direction the characters are going in and then the author (by all accounts a 16 year old… wow!) really subverts expectation. The pace is fast and the tale is really hard to put down. The main character has a real arc and the dialogue crackles with quick wit and movie like snappiness. Loved this book and I can’t wait to get more in this series. I think the name MJ Powell may be mentioned in the same breath as Sara J Maas or Leigh Bardugo in the not too distant future. Bring on the Netflix adaptation.

Came very fast, impressed of how good it is.
Came the within 2 days of ordering it. There was a problem with the system so the author personally texted me and the sign group to me on emails to keep me updated and give them apologies. I'm very pleased with the book, in great condition no bends or scratches.

I’m not a big reader so it took me a while to pick up this book, but when I did I could not stop reading. I love ever character and I can’t wait for the next book! I can already tell this is going to be a bestselling series.

In 3 Words: Emotional, Abuse, Strength
Mood It's Good For: When you don't mind seeing the dark, realistic side of overcoming traumaFave Quote: You are alive and there is a reason you have lived this long, don't give up before you find itFave Scene: Theatre performanceDormant Forces is a great fantasy debut, although it's a difficult read emotionally. The topics of abuse and mental health are handled very realistically and empathetically. Farren is an icon, fighting the demons of her past to take control of her own life. Her character growth in this book is amazing. Dormant Forces is full of plans, plans, and more plans. There were some great plot twists I didn't see coming, and the foundations are set very nicely for the rest of the series. There were some characters I felt I saw too little of (Ernold), and I hope they get their chance to shine in the next book❌SPOILER WARNING❌•••••It was a huge surprise when I realised Dagon was the creature, but I was glad it was him. I don't want Hadrian harming him to control Farren 😭. I was suspicious of Ronan, but didn't expect a betrayal on that scale. I still feel like there's more he's planning because he had Farren trained. The ending gave me major Tangled vibes, when Flynn is injured and Rapunzel begs to heal himTheory: The voice in Farren's head isn't Dagon. There is something or someone else manipulating not just Farren, but the entire plot

Great story but poor editing.
I could see this as the next big book or even as a movie but so far it's in my DNF pile because I'm having a hard time getting past all of the many grammatical errors. Aside from the errors, this girl understands literary devices and novel structure far better than most adults. I plan on finishing but it may take a while.
