If your boots are made of fabric then I suggest using Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof. Remember this product will add water resistance to your uggs, but they are still not meant to be submerged. Also always clean shoes with Nikwax footwear cleaning gel before waterproofing! **Q: Will there be enough in one bottle to do a pair of womens 10 to 12 inch tall size 8 suede leather boots ? How many application coats is best ?** A: I'm sure there would be - I use it on my and my wife's hiking boots and each bottle lasts several applications. Just make sure you follow the instructions and wet the suede first. How many applications? Not sure, but I suspect that when water forms drops on the dried suede, rather than just sinking it, you've done enough - probably just one! **Q: Before applying, do i need to shampoo clean the suede shoes first? do i need to brush the surface after applying it?** A: All I do is wash the suede clean and with it still damp, apply the Nubuck as per the instructions. When it dries the suede is still suede, but a light brush probably will enhance the suede! This rating and review is a word of caution for those who care about the color of whatever item they are waterproofing. Nikwax says can be applied on wet or dry footwear, but that it is more effective when applied to wet. I had a pair of brand new suede boots in a medium/ medium light brown. Since they didn't need to be cleaned (never worn), I followed directions and wet the first boot (much as I hated to and it seemed counter-intuitive), then sprayed on the nikwax, waited 2 minutes, wiped off the excess, and let dry. 1/2 hour later, it looked and felt exactly the same as the other one of the pair that I didn't touch that was serving as the 'control' boot for this test. I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled! Thinking I would save myself a step and not really caring if the boot was quite as waterproof as it could be since I didn't intend to wear it in anything more than a light drizzle, I skipped wetting the second boot in the pair and just sprayed the nikwax on the clean, dry suede. Well, it darkened several shades immediately as the first boot did when it got wet, but unfortunately never returned to its original color once the waterproofer dried. So, I was left with one light brown boot and one dark brown boot. In order to make them match, I ended up spraying the first boot with the waterproofer again, but without wetting the boot first. Sure enough, it too turned and stayed several shades darker so at least now they match and I can wear them. Other people may have had different experiences, but for me - long story short: wet the item first and the color should stay very close to original once it dries.
