Meeting at the Well: A Jewish Spiritual Guide to Being Engaged

This is a fantastic book. My husband and I worked through it before getting married and found it to be very helpful. We had known each other for 10 years at that point and still discovered so much about each other through the exercises provided. Questions that seemed like they wouldn't necessarily yield much of anything of interest led to hours of conversation and provided important foundational understandings for starting our marriage. We have since gifted this to many engaged couples - some who aren't Jewish, some who are. I hope it brings you and yours as much growth as it afforded us.

Great book for NEW couples
This book is good for literally brand new relationships. If you've been in a relationship for some time and perhaps living with each other there are other wedding books that would be more appropriate. This book explains what it's like to share a bank account, property etc. So if you're at that point in your relationship you will probably get a lot out of this book.

Very helplful book for couples who are engaged or thinking about getting married
This was recommended by our rabbi when we asked her to officiate at our wedding. It has questions to think about and discuss. This process of questioning ourselves and then sharing our answers with the other has helped to deepen our relationship and so far no unsolvable differences. Better to know about differences before you get married. Plus it's practice finding out who we are so we can each bring a whole person into the relationship. It's also practice in discussing potentially loaded issues with each other.

Wonderfully "engaging" book
I didn't have high expectations for this book, but boy was I wrong! The tips and exercises were fantastic, and really thought provoking. My fiance and I both read the book, and each took away a better understanding of what the other's expectations for being engaged were. There aren't very many books out there that focus on the engagement period, and how emotional the engagement can be.

Not just for those who are engaged, not just for Jews
This book is an excellent template to work through those deal breaker questions in the contemplation of any serious partnership. Many of the exercises are things I'd advise in order to determine whether one should become engaged to another in the first place. While this is a book rooted in Jewish tradition, I think anyone could glean valuable lessons about life partnership while setting aside the specifically Jewish aspects of the book. I've never seen another book quite as thorough, as quite as unique as Meeting At The Well, regardless of faith tradition.. Highly recommended for couples who are seriously contemating that next step and doing so with awareness, presence of mind, heart and soul and the self-reflexiveness to ask all the right and potentially difficult questions as they embark on that journey.
