Three Crabs Brand Fish Sauce, 24-Ounce Bottle

Having used predominantly the same brand of fish sauce my whole life, I have gotten more into Asian cooking over the years and have cooking more diverse dishes … teaching me that fish sauce is like soy sauce … there are many types and some types are more appropriate for some dishes than others. All that to say this is an excellent fish sauce. Less salty than, say, Red Hook. Three Crabs is commonly used in Vietnamese dishes.

I am not a fish fan. I dont like fishy things and im not a big seafood fan. I bought this as an add in to certain dishes and also for making beef jerky. I haven't made the jerky yet but I did try the fish sauce straight on its own. (I know that's not recommended because of how strong the flavor is but I feel that the best way to use an ingredient is to really know its flavor, strength and what it can add to a dish.) That being said, this was a very good flavor. I can see how this could add a very delicious full flavor to a savory dish. Im already thinking of adding dashes to stir-frys, eggroll filling, beef jerky marinades and more. It's got a salty umami flavor that can get over powering if used too liberally but when used modestly it could have an "mmm this is so good, whats in this?" kind of feel. It's not "oily" it reminds me more of a soy sauce. The package came fast, and whole fully sealed with no problems. The color and texture looks healthy and good, not discolored or old looking. It's probably going to last me a very long time unless I find some friends that want to take some off my hands.

Great to have this option in a small town with no Asian market. Great experience all around

Can't beat 3 crabs brand. Ordered rather than traveling over an hour to a local international market.
