Interrupting Chicken Review: Teaches compassion and imagination - not a lesson on interrupting! - I'm a substitute teacher - I always bring a book with me when I sub for elementary classes as a way to pass time, if needed. I'm pretty particular about which kid's books I buy and use, however, as I like books that are unique, clever, funny, and/or have a theme that can be turned into a lesson/writing activity. The classics are great, of course, but I want a book that is out of the ordinary. The concept of this story is clever. The wording and facial expressions of the chickens are hilarious! Another reviewer mentioned that the facial expressions needed more attention, but I felt they were adequate enough to convey what they were supposed to. I chuckle every time I see Chicken's dopey face as he tells Papa AGAIN that he'll be good. And it's clear to see Papa's frustration every time Chicken interrupts. The moral of this story may not be as clear to the reader as one would think. If you're hoping to use this book to teach or show why it's rude to interrupt, you might want a different book altogether. The ending doesn't offer a solution to Chicken's constant interrupting. In fact, I personally didn't feel that Chicken even had a problem with interrupting - instead, I felt that he was caring ("Oh, Papa. I couldn't let that little chicken get all upset over an acorn!"), jumping into the story right when something bad was going to happen and saving the day. Chicken was also imaginative, adding his own twist to classic stories and creating his own original story to read to Papa. Use this book as an example of compassion or creativity instead! If you just want a book that's adorably funny, however, then this one is perfect for that, too! For those reviewers who said this book was lame and boring - I think not! Some people need to lighten up a bit...kids and adults alike will enjoy this story and it is certainly a great addition to any bookshelf! Review: Great for littles! - One of my favorite books to read to my second graders!!

One of the BEST children’s books!
Every year I read this to my class and they can’t get enough! It’s always voted into our Classroom Favorites book bin. Super funny and after reading it, the kids really understand that interrupting can frustrate others. This author has a few other Interrupting Chicken books too for once your kids fall in love with the characters. This specific books has a thicker cover than most paperbacks so very happy with that as well!

Interrupting Chicken
"Please read one more story, and I promise I'll fall asleep." Little Red Chicken just loves a bedtime story. As Papa begins their nightly ritual, he reminds Little Red Chicken not to interrupt during the story. Little Red Chicken promises that she will be good and Papa begins with the story of Hansel and Gretel. Little Red Chicken just can't help herself and brings the story to a quick end, by warning Hansel and Gretel that they are about to go into a witch's house. Papa reminds Little Red Chicken not to interrupt while he is reading a story. Once again, Little Red Chicken promises to be good. Papa continues with the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Not very far into the story, Little Red Chicken Interrupts the story by exclaiming "Don't talk to strangers!" Begging Papa to tell her just one more story, Papa resumes his reading with the tale of Chicken Little. Of course, Little Red Chicken's exuberance for the story characters causes her to interrupt and intervene in this story as well. Out of bedtime stories, Papa tells Little Red Chicken that it's time to go to sleep, but Little Red Chicken needs a story to go sleep. Finally, Papa tells Little Red Chicken to tell him a story. This Caldecott Honor book by author and illustrator, David Ezra Stein is a delightful and funny read, that will become a definite bedtime favorite for parents and children alike.

A fun book for kids who like to interrupt story time.
A funny book that my grandchildren love for me to read over and over. The pictures are colorful, but I wish the illustrations were bigger.

Para el aula de inglés. Está pensado como libro para ir a dormir, pero se puede leer en clase y recordar algunos cuentos clásicos. Es divertido. Buen tamaño. Muy colorido.
