I am a fully qualified engineer. Now I may be unlucky and have faulty example of this device, but I suspect there is a fairly FUNDAMENTAL design flaw with the product which means that it either will not work or if it does it will only do so erratically.The problem seems to be the way the unit tries to take power from the USB port. Essentially this probably cross connects the +5v USB lines from the switch mode PSU's in all four PCs.With a two port device this usually works just about ok - but with 4 ports the chances of getting at least one PC PSU which is giving a slightly different 5v voltage is fairly high - and this then causes all sorts of strange current drains on the USB ports as the device is switched to and from the respective machine - causing unreliable comms between keyboard and machine.So the end effect is that it only really works reliably if just two ports are connected - rather pointless for a 4 port device. Having tried this, i could not get it to work on all four ports. So my advice is spend a bit more and get one with a proper 5v PSU of its own - this will then hopefully have proper isolation and buffering.There is clearly a reason this device is so much cheaper than then ones with proper type A USB connectors - and that is that the power design is marginal. You may get lucky - but I suspect, like me you will end up returning this item.I had this in service for precisely 10 minutes before sadly concluding that it cannot work sufficiently reliably for my intended usage. I am therefore immediately returning it for a full refund with the strongest possible recommendation to the normally reliable Amazon tech department that they cease listing this device, and instead concentrate on selling the more expensive models.

The switch does not provide the data to the computer that the monitor is connected. Every time than you switch from one computer to another one, the Win10 treats the monitor as disconnected. In that case all application windows will be placed onto the laptop display and if switched back, everything should be re-arranged on monitor screen. This process is very annoying.

This KVM switch was initially great for switching between headless single board computers. However, as the weeks and months went by, it became erratic, and the computers complained about more and more USB issues. Finally, it got so bad I had to take it out of service. The return window had expired, so I am out the purchase price. I wouldn't recommend it, but I suppose it's possible I got a unit with a defect.
