If this hitting mat is soo thick (~2" tall), isn't it like hitting above your feet, an uphill lie shot all the time you use it??

correct. it is slightly above. I took it to the park and placed it over grass so I wouldn't take any divots. I had to choke down on my wedges as I was practicing pitch shots. it did its job and felt really soft at impact. But the thing was falling apart. The edges of the green turf/matt was becoming unglued and the black strip where you place balls peeled off. Needs better adhesion.

Has anybody used a plastic or wood tee?

i just use the rubber tees; no success using the plastic or wooden tees, it won't stand up
