Can the R/L Red/White cables be separated or are they bound together?

The cables can be gently pulled apart so they become 2 separate individual cables. There is no molding or any type of binding implement on either end. I'm very pleased with these cables, they are highly flexible and have very secure snug fitting RCA plugs. Signal transfer is excellent as well... I highly recommend them!

i have an rca soundbar and the stupid optical audio cables will not stay plugged in. will this work in it's place?

Regarding optical cables that don't stay plugged in - check the ends of the cable and remove the plastic guards on each end. I had this trouble and could never get the optical audio cables to stick. Once the tiny plastic cover tips were off, the connectors snapped in and stayed.

Do I need to buy 2 if im connecting my dj controller to two speakers?

I bought two for my Denon Prime 4 controller purple on the back of the controller right channel then purple on the left channel then plug the red and whites into each of your powered speakers.
