Very light weight and easy to use. I was a little concerned that it would freewheel, but it loads up well and turning the switch doesn’t suddenly unlock it as you pass through the middle setting.

It is not safe to use this hoist.

This little hoist works great. The hoist chain is plated and the mechanism operates smoothly. Easy to use.

I do my own vehicle maintenance and enjoy around the house DIY projects. I got this compact manual chain hoist to use in my garage to lift heavy stuff; it is so small I can easily put this in my rig if I wish for a come along puller that is better than the cable type. This has a certificated capacity of 1100 lbs. (~1/2 ton) and uses 20 feet of small galvanized chain with sturdy steel hooks to let me attach this hoist. The build is excellent with nylock nuts on the hardware. The handle is quite short and if the Up/Down direction flip lever is centered this will "freewheel". That could be unsafe with a load as the spinning handle would hurt if it connected. That would drop a half star but since there are no halves, I'll default to 5. The double pawl action is smooth. The short handle does the trick and it is easy to add a cheater pipe to assist; I've not had to yet. This small chain hoist has a carrying case to make tossing this in my rig easier.
