Probably the best gateway into "cowboy hats"
As a Californian, it was a bit of shock to people when I propped this on my head today. Of course, there's a few "hey Indiana Jones" comments, a few western jokes, and the snarky "howdy" here and there. But considering how many of them know my personality, being a history/anthropology student, and liking western aesthetics, I consider them par for the course.By the time I sat down to offer a review for the hat, I realized "who cares it's a damn good hat" and a damn good hat it is. I fumbled between grocery store/gas station/hardware store sun hats through the years and there's always some problem with them. Too tight, can't withstand an occasional burst of wind, mishappen, or flat out a pain in the butt to clean. But after wearing the hat today, taking it on and off, at a relatively "decent" weather of 76 degrees, it felt incredible by comparison. The hat has a natural but slight curve despite the radius being consistent from the front and sides. The mesh feels really good to the touch, and there's a nice "shield" just above the brow that gives the some additional sun protection for the front of your head as well as masking some of the holes for visual purposes. If you do your job at home and measured your head right, you might not need the complimentary sizing bands. However, I can tell this might "breath out" over time, which is to be expected. It, simply, was the best fitting hat I've ever enjoyed and this is coming from a lot of years wearing baseball flex-fit caps too, where sometimes you can't get **exactly** the right fit which can lead to a lot of fiddling through the day. But this? Hardly needed to adjust it and it was brutally pleasant to experience. The hat gives very ample production without being overkill to protect your head, face, and neck from the sun and the mesh does actually do its job in giving enough ventilation to allow the natural airflow cool your hair/scalp. This was arguably the best part of the hat, because from all my time looking into "what western-styled hats would be worn in the heat" its between straw (which isn't my style) and something like this. It gives the aesthetics of a felt hat with all the perks of being a straw hat and it's (again) a pleasure to wear.As far as cleaning goes, based on how I feel with the sweat band, a little distilled vinegar and the occasional baking soda brushing should keep the stink and oils off, especially if you aim to wear this daily.I know this review was only given after a day, but, I notice with clothes you sorta "know" if it'll fit in your arsenal of clothes and it certainly does. Thanks for taking the time to read this review and I hope this hat serves you well, if you choose to buy it. As I said in the title... this might become a hole in my pocket in the near future. Bravo Barhma!

Excellent hat. Well made & durable.
Hat arrived in excellent condition and was the correct size. I already have one of these hats and this is my second (that I've ordered in a different color) so I can attest to the great durability. My only negative is the shipping time - ordered it on March 10th & received on April 2 (which may be due to having it shipped to Maui, HI but most Amazon orders don't usually take this long).

Another great Barmah!
This is my 3rd Barmah. Just love my crocodile hat, but a bit too warm in sweltering heat. This breezer is perfect for summer and, man, it looks terrific! Seems like the typical great Barmah quality and materials. Be advised that Barmah's canvas hats are very slightly larger than their leather hats (by 1/8 inch), but nothing that the sizing tape doesn't remedy. Their crocodile hat is beyond compare, but this canvas drover is sure to be my next favorite!Update: I liked this hat so much that I also ordered a black one. Wow, this one is the bomb! Talk about love at first sight and wear. Definitely a more "desperado" look than my khaki one.

Good hat
Great looking hat that provides total coverage by the brim all the way around. The craftsmanship appears very good and the hat stylish if you are looking for that as much as you should for practicality. My number one problem was sizing was slightly large. But Barmah included these nice padded tape strips of two different thicknesses to adjust the hat to a fit for me. So that was a nice add on. These hats truly work to keep the sun off of you and are well priced to other brands with less apparent quality and attention to detail.

Fantastic Hat - Buy It!
I absolutely love Barmah Outback hats and am proud to say this was my third purchase. They are meticulously well-made, stylish, durable and function as they should.I ruined my first Barmah in South America when I was forced to use it as a dipper for river water. It was crushed in its wet state and remained that way for about 4 days. Although I could still use it after that abuse, it had lost its good looks. I bought a Bronco fold-away last year and have used it almost every day here in Texas heat. It looks worn and discolored but I consider this to be "character" and wouldn't part with it.I just received the subject hat, a brown canvas model and it has been great for fending off the sun while keeping my head relatively cool. I consider it my outdoor companion and am not afraid to wear it in light rain and put it to full use.Cowboy hats to me look silly even here in Texas and I have been asked on several occasions about my canvas Barmah and where I bought it. A great had and highly recommended.

Best hat ever!
Fantastic hat for subtropical south east Georgia. Fantastic in sun and rain. Holds it form after being rained on as well as working outside in nature. Now I'm ordering a different color because it's just that good. Great value for the money.
