Insightful and Detailed
Useful book that I purchased as a student and still reference to this day. Content is easy to understand and well ordered, explaining the specifics without being too overwhelming. Excellet for a college level class or for those looking to further their understanding of molecular biologists.

Wonderful buy
Absolutely lovely book, it came neat and with its code. No problems whatsoever and the print came as if it were printed moments before being delivered. Would totally recommend.

This is a wonderful book.
I am humbled to write one of the first reviews of this great work of science. As an introduction, I am not a scientist and have studied cell biology as a hobby for 50 years.I want to tell you why I call this work the Queen of Cell Biology Textbooks. It may be 1404 pages , but research in cell biology has exploded since I graduated college in 1969.This is only a five authored book, unlike encyclopedias of cell biology, and I think it should be read from beginning to end to have the whole experience of the magnificent research that has occurred since. The mysteries of the cell are unending, and each discovery starting from the structure of DNA in 1952to mRNA vaccines in 2021 has profound significance for mankind's journey into the micro-world.As an example of the teaching techniques, consider the chapter on Control of Gene Expression.Every new or complicated concept is explained three times: in the text, in the accompanying illustration, and in the caption of the illustration. Every time I have been confused by the text, the two back explanations clear it up. There is meticulous attention to teaching throughout the book; it is not writtenjust for the scientist who works in the lab or for graduate student; it is written by just a few authors to teach anyone who wants to tackle the challenge of understanding the cell just for its beauty and meticulous construction. Buy the hard cover text for a permanent place in your library of the cell.Congratulations to the authors who have done a great job.Thomas Weisman MDTucson, Arizona

Excellent!
I'm so impressed! I read and skimmed through the ninth edition of Molecular Cell Biology (Lodish, et al) after it came out in January 2021, and liked it (and learned a lot). But, although I'm only on chapter 2 in this book (I looked through it to see if it stays so good, and it does, although I might skip a chapter or two), I REALLY like this book! I'm so glad I got it. It came out a year and a half after the Lodish book, but it seems that a lot has happened in molecular biology of the cell since then. I continue to be astounded by both how life works and how much scientists has discovered exactly how life works. A continuing adventure for me (I majored in engineering a long time ago, but I still want to know how everything works). ADDENDUM I'm skimming through the book now, and I have to say that this book seems to be encyclopedic in scope. No one could remember it all. But I'm still learning the surface of what's new, and it's still fascinating. I have noticed that different sections, being written by different authors, repeat some parts of previous sections, but I accept the obvious, that different authors have different specialties (they'd have to).

Well organized and comprehensive
I just completed my first reading of this book to familiarize myself with the material. The book is well organized and a feature that is very helpful is the cross referencing of material to other parts of the book or illustrations is included in the pertinent text. Many of the movies did not activate for me, likely due to wifi issues at Starbucks. Those that did were helpful in making the processes understandable. Unfortunately, I cannot access the problem section as I do not have a professor to grant me access so I cannot comment on that part of the book. Clearly this is the definitive textbook in this field just as Norton touts it to be. Highly recommended to those interested in the field. I am reading it as background for Rich's Clinical Immunology.

Gosh this is a great book ....
I wish I could get through it faster than Gary, but it is a really outstanding description of ... wait for it ... molecular biology of the cell.

Code doesn't work for me
The seller should state that in order to use the supplemental digital problems/question bank, you need to be either a teacher or enrolled with a teacher using the book. I see this as false advertising. I purchased this book over others because it came with a digital question book and now I find out there are stipulations.
