expensive but well made
I am using this to insulate around the rear of the engine and especially the turbo and exhaust path on a Cummins engine in a pickup. I will wrap the exhaust down tube with their inferno exhaust wrap and see how it goes.

this stuff works
I replaced my engine, while the engine was out and I was waiting on some parts I removed the 18 year old heat shield. cleaned the area until it was squeaky clean. the self stick is a pain to work with but it sticks great to very clean surfaces. getting the backing material off will make you question your life choices.I did not do any formal testing but I can tell the difference, my feet are no longer cooking and it deflects a great deal of heat. you can actually tell where I ran out of material. someday when I have my transmission out I'm going to do the entire tunnel.good stuff, yes it's a pain to work with it but the results are noticeable.

Great Looking Firewall Repair
While this product seems over priced, it seems to be working well for my firewall application. Installation went well on a really irregular surface and it looks like a professional installation. Heatshield Company was very helpful in guiding me to this product and when I noticed that there was supposed to be some tape in the packaging, they quickly sent out another length of tape.I gave a negative review on the 2 inch Armor Tape (not the 1 inch tape that comes with the product) Product #179002 that I purchased to complete the installation because the adhesive was weak and would not stay sealed.

Using this on the side of our fridge
While designing a new space in our home we knew we wanted a wood stove. We had planned for the fridge to go on one wall, the wood stove on the other. Last minute we realized the wood stove would have to be moved because there are solar panels on the eave the pipe would have to go through. So our wood stove is next to our fridge - it was too late to rearrange everything. It doesn't look as awkward as we thought, but heat was a problem. This heat shield has taken care of that! We attached the whole sheet on the side next to the heat source - fridge is staying nice and cool now!

Item is not as shown in picture and on description.
Item is not as described. It arrived damaged, wrinkles Edges, verticle folding wrinkles all over the material, the roll of tape is not a roll and is not the same as shown in the picture, the glue is not good, per example, a sticky note glue holds better than this.See the pictures I attached to this review. They are the actual items I receive.

Works Well
You have to be careful to properly remove the clear film that covers the adhesive. The instructions say to use a razor to lift it at a corner and I found this to be the best way. it was easy to apply and sticks very well. I bought the tape and it worked well for detailing the edges.

Item was easy to cut and form
I used this to protect the bottom of my 2001 Tahoe's intake manifold. It may help in the hot summers to keep the intake air a little cooler. Item was easy to cut and form, just make sure part is clean before attempting to install.

All adhesives have a 'shelf life' and yours may be expired (the adheasive not yours)
The problem I had was the adhesive was old and just not sticky... Note that I have used this product in the past and it worked perfectly. The problem is, after you cut it to fit and then peal the backing and find out it's not sticky it is un-returnable. So in effect it has a shelf life like all adhesives and if it sat in a warehouse for years somewhere it may not work for you - or it may. Note that I cleaned the surface that was to be insulated with soap n water then wiped down with a rag dampened with acetone and let dry so no oils interfered with the bond. I even tried lightly heating the intake manifolds surface with heat gun to a warm to the touch temp hoping the adhesive would 'activate but it did not. Again note that this was a smooth surface not a difficult to stick to cast surface. Basically, I know what I am doing and the product was just too old to work. Other's experience may vary.P.S. - Using a spray industrial adhesive from a well known company that has one more M than the candy for a total of 3, I was able to get my project done.
