McGard 65540BK SplineDrive Chrome/Black (1/2" - 20 Thread Size) Wheel Installation Kit for 5-Lug wheels

Ordered this kit after reviewing photos which shows 2 sockets 1 spline drive socket and 1 lock socket….and when it arrived it was missing the spline drive socket to install the 16 spline wheel nuts in kit, Note it does come with the wheel lock socket. I called customer service and they sent new kit out right away….and when the new kit arrived I found it also did not come with spline drive socket. Had to order a socket separately to be able to install this “KIT” also want to say be careful with McGard spline drive socket you purchase separately, very thin and you would not want to used an impact gun installing wheel nuts might just want to do by hand and torque wrench after

Super unimpressed with these. Three of them broke while torquing to spec. Cracked right in half, leaving part of the lug nut trapped inside the wheel. Would love a new set, but unable to select that option, had the lug nuts break the first time they were used

So as others have stated, yes I originally received the wrong product. I ordered spline black wheel nuts. I first received an open rusty package containing chrome hex nuts. I immediately returned via Amazon and within two days had the correct package show up. Sounds to me like that one messed up box just keeps getting recycled instead of pulled from rotation.Second, the ad shows pictures and even states that chrome valve stem caps come with the kit. They DO NOT come with it. Kind of a bummer as I picked this kit partly because of that.As for the black spline nuts and the "keyed" tamper resistant nuts, I couldn't be happier as they are rust free, and beautifully done, tough and as long as you don't use a impact gun should survive many removals and installs. They are welded up not crimped and solid, not some press fit crap that I've had other places.

I needed nuts with specific dimensions to fit into the lug holes of my wheel and over the length of the studs, and these were one of the few that fit exactly. They are very well made, packaged very carefully to prevent damage to the finish during shipping. I particularly like the tip that would normally bind against the seat of the lug hole being a separate piece that slides independently from the rest of the body, to minimize galling of the lug hole shoulder. The only down side to this set is that it's kind of expensive. But if you want quality, you have to pay for it, which is different from "you get what you pay for".

These look great and having two forms of protection is a huge plus.
