Excellent illustrations my kid loves it
I was worried that my kindergartener wouldn't read this book because the sentences were so long. However she loves it anyway because of the illustrations. They are fabulous. So she is reading it even though she doesn't understand those long sentences. :)

Kids liked the book
It's not easy to find reasonably priced children's books in Russian, so when I saw this one I decided to give it a try. Kids enjoyed it and that's OK in my book. Printed on quality paper, the story is captivating for kids and not too complicated to bore them too soon. Recommended for toddlers.

Nice story with ONE issue. Wonderful pictures!
I agree with a previous reviewer that this book has a lot potential with better editing. The story is touching and heartfelt. I would rate with five stars the artist. Each animal has so much of expression! We loved the pictures! You could read a whole story just by looking at the pictures. However, there was a silent moment when we turned the page after learning that the Ириска’s house was destroyed and broken by the storm and she was sitting on the tree stump next morning with nothing left! On the next page someone was ringing her door bell...Wait, WHAT??? That was a moment where the kids asked me what really happened? My 8 and 5 years old girls had tears in their eyes after reading what happened to Iriska’s house. I had to explain how magically Iriska’s house was there next morning. It felt like a lie to them :( I was disappointed about this moment of confusion myself. O well, other than that - it’s a nice book. Sharing, kindness, socializing is on point in this story.

Great book in Russian
My daughter is bilingual (Russian and English) and she is 2.5. She loves Lisa Iriska very much. The book is well written, well illustrated and provides for many nice bedtime stories.

Art is better than writing: errors, diminutives,
As a rural mother of a bilingual toddler, who does not have a luxury of browsing bookstores, I've ordered this one on Amazon. When I read it for the first time, I was ready to send it back and write a 1-star review - the writing was so poor, I was not sure I want to keep it. But my 2.5 year old saw the book, demanded that we read it... and we read this book at least ten times that day, and every night for last month, so I added a couple of points based on target audience response.Pros: delicate, natural colors, cute simple characters which can be found in majority of toy boxes, making role play easy (my toddler is a tad too young to appreciate the stick puppets, which is not a bad idea, too). My husband, who does not speak Russian, was able to 'read' it by just describing pictures, and he got it pretty close to the original. Just by looking at the pictures, my 2.4 year old can tell that the fox is sad, that her stuff is broken, that animals brought her replacement or 'fixed' stuff, and that they are happy and sharing, and the fox says 'thank you'. The fonts are good, and the fact that first letter of every page in highlighted prompts my child to spontaneously name these letters - thanks to this book I found out my toddler knows letters I did not realize she remembered.Cons: The text. The idea is has some potential, but the beginning is prejudiced against introverts, assuming that animals with social avoidance as unwilling to share, and not, say, easily overwhelmed or shy. OK, this is the writer's right to make her story the way she sees fit, but then comes Russian language and formal logic with their own rules. The text needs another round of proofreading - there are orthographic and grammatical errors. There is disproportionate number of diminutives. I appreciate (no irony - I seriously do) the fact that the author used complex sentences with participle clauses, but they should be polished up more. They sound unnatural, как анекдот про пожар в доме-музее Пришвина.As I am writing this review, I read this book at least 50 times. It grew on me. I feel for fox, kudos to bear, and especially - to squirrel and bird, showing up with goodies at natural predator's doorsteps. But there are logical gaps that I cannot fill. Fox cannot fall asleep whole night - but then she wakes up in the morning. The house was destroyed, and Iriska sits on a tree stomp, weeping her losses. Oh wait - the house is there, because the hedgehog calls the doorbell and the fox opens from inside. But when the squirrel arrives, she does knocks - what happened to the doorbell? This book has a great potential, if they decide to hire a new editor and try again.

Inconsistent storyline but daughter likes it
My 4.5 year old daughter likes the story but she keeps asking questions as to how come the fox is with her new friends in the house that supposedly was ruined by the storm? The story line is inconsistent and it bugs me every time I read it to my daughter. Surprisingly, she likes it and keeps asking for it. A few grammar mistakes, which is unacceptable for a published book?..
