Excellent
Husband loved it so much he bought his brother a copy. Full if information and a pleasant read. Not in the least stuffy!

Engrossing read
Not the sort of book I would normally buy, I'm not a railway buff. However, it's a real page turner, a mixture of rail and social history. Left me wanting to read more from the author and I'm starting on his 'The Subterranean Railway' book on the London Underground, which from the first few pages that I've read is equally good.

Comprehensive book
I bought this book for a friend who is very interested in trains and their history.I am assured by my friend that this is one of the most interesting books in his collection now.

Interesting
Great book, but why oh why do Amazon insist on forcing parcels which are too large through letterboxes thereby risking damage to the books and my letterbox! The book was thankfully not damaged.
