Bubblefin Pre Sump Filter Sock Holder 4" with 2 x Filter Bags

Building a sump for reef tank, and the sock holders are very good. Constructed very well fit perfectly on my rimmed tanks. It looks like it fits on rimless as well. Really happy with this purchase.

It’s a great combo at a great price. The clear acrylic bracket includes two nylon set screws so it easily and securely attaches to the top edge of an aquarium sump with a plastic rim. They include two socks so you have 1 to capture large particulates while the other one is being cleaned, etc. The socks have a plastic frame that easily secures to the acrylic bracket. I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my other aquarium.

Holder is great, but the socks are pretty much useless. Upgraded to a much better filter socks. Holder fits perfectly for those as well and seems to be built really well. Just stick it in, screw it to the wall(wish the screws were better as they’re thin and go all over), and you’re good to go

This is a terrific value for just the acrylic holder alone but it also includes 2 - 4" mesh socks. The holder will accommodate most any glass thickness up to about an inch. In my application for aquarium cleaning of sand bed and structure I attach the holder and sock to my sump and run the siphon/vacuum hose from the aquarium into the sock. This allows me to collect all the gunk without losing tank water volume.

I’m shocked at how bad the quality has become on these. I bought one a few years ago and it was good. This time, the first one I ordered was not usable at all (see my video). The threads were totally mangled on one screw and completely stripped on the other. Whoever assembled it just shoved the screws in and tightened them cross-threaded. Lame. And, the included socks didn’t even fit the holder. They should fit easily into the holder, but they wouldn’t go in at all. I tried bending the acrylic holder open, but no dice. It just wouldn’t fit. (see video again) I didn’t want to just return it, because I want to support small businesses, so I submitted for a replacement instead. The new one came today, and it’s only a bit better. One of the screws was good, but the other was mangled again. Luckily I was able to straighten the teeth out by slowly working the screw in and out of the teeth in the holder. The screws are just soft plastic, so you have to be careful with them. I was able to get it to a usable place, so I will keep it. I was also able to get the sock to fit this time, but I had to really bend the ring on the sock to get it in. Weird. Luckily, I had ordered a pack of some normal 4” fabric type socks (200 micron), so I tried one of those out and it fit just fine. Sat easily and flush into the holder. So weird that the socks they include with their own holder don’t fit. Anyway, I hope the company sees this and improves the quality of their product. I want small businesses to succeed. So instead of avoiding this product, maybe give them a try but keep in mind what I said here. If yours is bad too, instead of returning it, try replacing it instead, but leave a review. Let’s give them a chance. Either the company will step up, or they will step out. Time will tell.

Easy to install. Easy to remove and clean. Note: it is 200 micron nylon mesh, not fiber. If you want to catch smaller particles you can add some filter floss.

Honestly never leave reviews but this is by far one of the highest quality, cheap aquarium thing I have ever purchased. Great for any diy sump.
