...contents apply to all tasks in all walks of life.....
There is not just one ‘way’ of achieving success or happiness. But each way contains certain ingredients with which the actor has to become an alchemist of sorts, continuously mixing and balancing depending on the circumstances in which he/she operates. The key word here is “continuously’, implying application and perseverance, the latter meaning getting up after a fall and ‘pressing on’. The “Summary of GRIT – The Power and the Passion of Perseverance” by Angela Duckworth succinctly presents us with some elements involved in becoming a gritty achiever. Why is Grit the chief element to acquire? Because a person with grit is more likely to apply and excel, and extend to apply himself in all that he does.I once read that success in a task depends on (1) having an objective; (2) the intrinsic difficulty of the task/objective; (3) having the “right” tools; and (4) the amount of time and effort you are willing to apply to the task (achieve your objective). The Summary of Grit identifies (1) Skill – developed by the application of effort to basic talent (2) Achievement - the result of the application (effort) of skill to a task. Ingredients include (1) having an interest and applying practice – developing a Passion; and (2) having a Purpose; (3) Hope; and (4) Perseverance. Passion combined with perseverance develops Grit. As implied, acquiring that characteristic is a process, not an event. How about 60 rejections of a book manuscript before the first acceptance – and going on to be a famous author! You will certainly find more if you read the whole book. The Summary mentions ‘growing our grit” – from inside out; from outside in: and as a parent. I would only add: Persons who develop grittiness imbue themselves with levels of self-control and self–confidence (tools) that allows them to successfully predict outcomes. But if they are proved wrong, they have the capacity to ‘pick themselves, learn from mistakes and go for the next try. Secondly, there is the impact on children. I would state that I like passing the gift of grit to children through example, and through some limited self-praise.In summary the SUMMARY states: ” Being gritty means always having one foot in front of the other. • Being gritty means having goals that are interesting as well as purposeful. • Being gritty means continuously challenging yourself to improve your skills. • Finally, being gritty means falling down seven times and getting up the eighth.”Can we think that all this works because we are trying to engage and arouse our Real Selves?I recommend Summary and Book to all because their contents apply to all tasks in all walks of life.

A summary of the NY Times bestseller
This is a summarized,”Spark Notes” of sorts for Angela Duckworth’s best selling self-motivation book “Grit”. It works great either as a supplementary text to the original book, or as a freestanding book in its own right, if you’re looking to take away all the main points of the bestseller without having to read the whole thing or pay the higher price for the original publication. “Grit” is one of the best self-help books to come out in a long, long time, and I can’t recommend it enough. I went through some pretty tough personal times in the past - as we all have - and I’ve never had it explained so well how to drag yourself back up off the ground, keep your head up high, and keep fighting the fight that makes you, you. You will never be anything less or anything more than who you are, and the beauty of this book is that you come to understand that statement as incredibly positive and inspirational. A lot of people have no idea what they are capable of, whether on the physical or emotional level, but reading this will be a sure-fire stepping off point that’ll start you off on the path to self-improvement and betterment.

Good for a summary book
What is Grit? Grit is a book that describes how to succeed by working hard and pushing through adversity, as opposed to just being smart or gifted and making money simply off your intelligence alone. This book is a summary of the book Grit, sort of a Cliffs Notes version of Grit, but I might be showing my age with that comparison, because I see now there are “Fast Reads” that may have now taken over the Cliffs Notes from back in my day. If you haven’t read Grit, you may want to pick up this summary book to decide if you want to take the time to read it. If you have read Grit, this summary may help you dig a little deeper into the meaning and intention of the book. Of course, if you have to do a book report on the book Grit and you don’t have time to read it, you’ll want to buy this book right now!

Best Self-Motivation helper out there
Absolutely the best self-help/motivation book that I've ever read. Most self-help books are long and get a bit winded, which makes me get bored, but since this is just the summary it's perfect! This quick read is a great pick me up for anyone that's feeling a little down and out on themselves. For someone that was reaching for a goal and didn't make it, this is what they need to pick them up and get them thinking about what to do next. If someone doesn't get bored by these books then I 100% recommend buying the original book Grit, but if you're easily distracted or bored by these books, this summary of Grit is perfect. If you are unsure, then buy this book and use it as a guide to the full book or to share with friends. I will recommend this book to any and every College graduate trying to find their place in the job market; as well as anyone that needs some motivation.
