makes me think it a better idea to give it a bigger capacity rather than ...
The area light does not have a switch. It lights up when pops out. And the battery case is located right behind the area light. Feels kinda weird when changing batteries. The top light and area light can be used at the same time, makes me think it a better idea to give it a bigger capacity rather than the good old triple AAA batteries, since the light itself seems reasonably big.Other than those two points, there is not much to say. It is a real good flash light and worth buying.

Bright but does not stay on continuously in the cold.
The light is strong but does not stay on continuously. I have to keep putting it inside my Cargil jacket to warm it up when I work in the freezer or outside when the temp is below freezing.

Nice broad beam, okay regular flashlight, weak magnet and why 3 AAAs?
INITIAL USAGEI remember when I first got this. It took me a moment to figure out where the batteries went and I also noted that it did not magnetically stick well to the textured refrigerator surface. I was prepared to be disappointed. At that same time, opening the wand part of the light, I hit my boyfriend with the full brunt of the bright beam. As he gets migraines from bright light exposure, it would have been nice to know the direction of the light before you open it. This flashlight takes 3 AAA batteries. That always messes me up. There’s always that random battery left in the set.HANDY DUE TO BROAD LIGHTHowever I found, that’s where my disappointment ended. This is a handy little light.I have taken to leaving this in my car. We go to a festival every year that goes from day to night and we need to access coolers and jackets in the back of the car and this broad stroke of light is perfect for that. Unlike a traditional narrow flashlight beam like it has at the end, the broad LED, covers a larger area with sufficient light to find things in the dark.MAGNET OKAY, BUT NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR CAR SIDEI found the magnet works great on flat non-texture magnetic metal. Not so much painted textured refrigerator surfaces. However it is not strong enough to be useful on the side of a car, to fix a flat. It barely holds on on a slightly upward canted vertical service. It will not hold on a fully vertical car side surface.AFTER USE FOR A WHILE: STILL FORGET THE SIDE OF THE WIDE BEAMI found the side the beam light comes out is the opposite side as the button for the standard flashlight beam. Funny as I was first writing this up, I started to say the opposite, so it is not easy to remember and there is no indication on the exterior of the flashlight that I noted. But as you open and see the back of the battery door clip, you are reminded, sorta. I use my memory for more important stuff. The magnet is too weak to be really useful. It’s one of those fine lines. Any more powerful it might mar surfaces, but I have found I can’t rely on it to remain stuck to anything if I have it fully open. Closed it is better, but that loses most of it’s functionality.I will continue to keep it in the car for my festival and it’s broad light . It’s nice you can use both lights at the same time. The more traditional flashlight end is okay, not notable either way.

Huge
This light is big. At least twice the size of the ct1000 in every direction. The pics dont reflect that.

If you slide the bug light out all the time the connection starts to go bad
Not bad for the money
