Works as it should, no noise, and is priced within reason
Some have said that this hard drive is noisy but it was simple to install and startup was as easy after formatting the drive and then turning the power off and on it was ready to go. I can stand in front of the nvr at 2 feet and I cannot hear the drive making any kind of noise. I go back as far as it had recorded and call on the playback and I still hear nothing and see a very clear display. I have now bought 2 additional 8GB drives like this and have installed one of them with no problem or noise. The cost seems reasonable and the compatibility is there with no noise should be running without overheating then it should last for a long time. Have not had the drive for very long but will buy this drive for any additional needs that I have. If I have any problems I will update but for now I am happy with the purchase.

Great HDD for Video Surveillance - Fast, Quiet, and Reliable!
This is the perfect hard drive for my 16 camera NVR. It was delivered more quickly than promised, was reasonably priced and is working flawlessly so far. Based on other reviews, I was concerned about how noisy it might be for my office environment, but I'm happy to report that it's pretty quiet; I sit within 8 feet of it and it don't notice it at all.

Died after 3 months of low use
So I'm using this as a scratch drive for video editing. For a scratch drive, this isn't as much of an issue compared to long-term archiving.I had a couple issues early on when it didn't power up, but I think that was due to an incompatible drive bay I purchased. Using another HDD dock seems to have it running stable.Am worried about long-term usage based on others' reviews, so but those complaints seem to be few. Right now and for workhorse needs, this is a nice and reasonably-cost solution.~~~~~April 26 update:I'm seeing the drive not always being recognized by Windows. I moved it to another enclosure and, so far, it's working. Hopefully this is not a sign of early failure. I checked out the Seagate warranty page and it looks like a simple rma process, if one had to use it.

Very loud!
I just installed this in a new Eufy S4 Max NVR. It runs all the time, even when it should be idle, making a noise that's crazy, like some rock'n roll drummer gone mad doing a forever solo back in the 70s! It's a Sunday so I'll see if Seagate has an answer tomorrow. Before all that I had to format it in the NVR first, after a few minutes it reported done, but the drumming kept on going like it was still formatting so I thought the "done" message was false. In fact formatting was successful, it's the noise that's an unwelcome feature. I subsequently figured out the internal clatter was being amplified by the cupboard it was sitting on. Now even with a towel under it for padding I can still hear it 10' away sitting at my desk.

I should have reviewd this when I bought it, but I can say it is quite good
I inadvertently overlooked reviewing the drive when I purchased it. Perhaps this was a good thing as I have been using it for some time as a storage vessel for large video files. I can honestly say, after reformatting it for my Mac, that it has proven to be a reliable work horse for me.

Good Drive for Camera Systems, Just Not Silent
I’ve been happy with this Seagate SkyHawk AI 8TB hard drive overall. I used it for video storage, and it has worked well so far. The 8TB capacity gives plenty of room for security camera footage, DVR/NVR use, or any setup where you need a lot of continuous recording space. The drive was recognized without any trouble, and installation was straightforward. I like that the SkyHawk line is made for surveillance-style use, where the drive may be writing video footage for long periods of time instead of just being used like a normal desktop storage drive.Performance has been good, and I have not had any problems with recording or playback. The larger cache is also nice to have, especially when dealing with video files and multiple streams.I’d give it 4 stars mainly because, like most mechanical surveillance drives, it is not completely silent. That may not matter inside an NVR or equipment closet, but if you are putting it in a quiet room, you may notice some normal hard drive noise. Also, as with any hard drive, I would still recommend having a backup plan for anything important.Overall, it’s a solid high-capacity drive for video storage or surveillance systems. It works well, has plenty of space, and seems like a good choice for an NVR or security camera setup.

Quick, easy swap for a Lorex system I bought at Costco. I went from 2 TB to 10 TB without an issue.

Not quite AI... as I thought
I am looking to replace my Qnap storage since it is harddisk for CCTV surveillance, I assume no issue with 24/7 running.I need one urgently as my disk 1 is already giving distress signal.Much later, I read the reviews and realized it is not built for multitasking.. and AI serve little purpose.Yet to know it's performance since just installed.
