the pump suction should be placed as close to what your are suctioning as possible and then PUSHED away from the pump. There are TOO many factors that would need to be answered before answering that suction question. Such as what is being transferred, what air pressure and CFM is being used. How far will you being pushing the fluid etc... calling Graco for technical assistance will be your best bet.

Bought this replace a Graco husky transfer pump mistakenly ordered 3/4” instead of 1” so install did not go smooth but pump works great.
