Very quiet, and honestly fantastic
I needed a blender, and I was concerned about how loud my previous Ninja blender was. I didn’t want to be too loud in my apartment and was worried about annoying my neighbors. But I didn’t want to sacrifice on the performance. I read lots of reviews and metrics about some of the better-known high-end blenders, and even considered making my own acrylic sound shield for a Vitamix. Eventually I decided I was being kind of crazy and that I didn’t need a $500 blender. Because of the great review, and very quiet noise tests, on the Rtings site, I decided to go with this one. It works great, has enough capacity for what I need, and is significantly quieter than I expected it to be. Don’t get me wrong, all blenders are pretty loud and this is no exception. But I was very surprised how effective the noise cover was. This is a great option if you need a medium-sized blender and you’re concerned about noise level. If that’s you, definitely give this one some consideration.

Save Your Hearing for Awesome Music
Hamilton Beach has developed an excellent/simply designed blender. It provides power and quiet one would expect in a 2019 product. I envision the engineering team behind this machine saying, "yeah, we can do this... quiet(er), powerful, mid-range pricing... no problem!" I love the "power ramp-up" feature of the smoothie dial-in pre-set. It goes from "0 to 60" (low-speed to high-smoothie speed) in a non-bragging style -- "a perfect smoothie in one-minute...", says my HB Pro 1500W QS Blender. While this little robot is making my smoothie [~280g frozen fruit; one whole banana; GOL protein powder; a splash of Omega 3, 6; ~200ml fruit juice; ~650ml soy milk] I'm filling my water bottle and having a conversation with my wife. The speed ramps down and then shuts down . Smoothie made in one minute! I love this robust robot! The thick BPA free jar has a no handle design. I like really like that! You can grab-it like you mean it. Fits perfectly in hand. Feels solid and balanced. Looks like it was designed to reduce micro-wobble and lost energy from blender speed noise. Energy is directed to the spin of the blade and the spin and mix of the food in a nice 32 oz/1L final product. HB describes this as a "Quiet Shield" and not a "silent" blender. Compared to my last two ultra loud blenders -- a Bella and a less expensive HB -- the shield, which seats snugly over less rigid energy absorbing plastic, significantly dampens any noise.I absolutely love this blender, and now that I've regained my hearing (with the Belle, my wife and I either put on ear protection or pressed fingers to our ears), I can enjoy my loud music loud and quiet music quieter, cruisin' down the road in the morning with no ringing ears, enjoying that perfect smoothie!

Disappointed at performance. Not trying to chop rocks here. :(
First time out of the box it was hard to get used to gripping the blender pitcher since it doesn't have a handle. But we got over that. We were fairly impressed with the reduction in noise level. Not as good as the more expensive blenders, but a definite reduction in noise vs. without the cover. The first couple of times we used it, it was very powerful and we were super excited to have picked up such an awesome blender for under $200 with noise reduction. But after about 10 uses, blending power reduced drastically. So much that I gave it to my daughter for her apartment and she gave it back because it doesn't work.We make frappes with a premixed packet that you mix with water and then add ice. Our ice is not super hard. It's made from an automatic ice maker and we go through it fairly quickly so it doesn't sit in there turning into rocks. It's soft enough that the $20 Hamilton Beach blenders we picked up from WalMart plow through it easily. However the $20 version is very noisey.A $169 blender from HB should be able to perform better than this! I guess if you don't care about noise reduction, go with the cheaper model. It does way better than this one and we are shocked. Been using the cheaper model for years without any blending issues.

LOVE THIS BLENDER
I got this blender for my new apartment and compared to most blenders this one is considerably quieter and personally I think the noise shield does help a lot as well. To reduce noise even more I have it sitting on top of a foam pad and when turned on a lower setting it’s barely noticeable. It has a ton of setting options and a dial so you can fine tune how fast/loud it blends.I can’t vouch too much for the blending power as I mainly use fresh fruits for my smoothies and throw in a couple frozen chunks just for consistency, but it handles the job very well! It’s very easy to clean I just squirt some dish detergent in it and some warm water and let it blend on a lower setting for 30 seconds to a minute and it cleans out majority of whatever’s left inside.Overall I’m very very pleased with this blender it is well worth the price and after using it multiple times I’m still shocked with how quiet it is.

good blender, quiet is relative
This is quieter than most cheap blenders and most high power blenders.I measured it around 89-90 db which is loud but is better than many.Without the cover it measured around 95db.I replaced an old Breville which worked for many years and was relatively quiet (quieter than my old cheap blender)This seems faster and more powerful than the Breville.I downrated it a bit because it is really not Super Quiet and because the jar is large, lacks a handle, and would be hard for small hands. I am 6' with long fingers and can lift he jar with one hand, my wife needs two hands. After a few weeks of use it feels sturdy and reliable, the smoothie program works very well, the larger knob makes it easy to select function or speed, the buttons are actual molded buttons and should last longer than the membrane switches on many blenders.
