Ideal for downspout drain box.
Excellent quality. Sturdy. Well made. Just what I needed in windy rainy Florida. It replaced the lid that came with the 12" drain basin which drains to a buried pipe system. It did need longer stainless screws than what were supplied. The lizards love it. They like to hide inside and peek out the slats.

It helps filter but not everything
Built a French drain recently to prevernt the water from going under my deck. Fitted perfectly my 12x12 basin and doesn't splash much. Keeps most of the leaves out but some do make it in. It just drops over the basin, without anything needed for the install

Great product, sheds leaves and drains lots of water!
Great product that performs much better than the previous gutter drainage design I had. Made it through TS Beta (>12โ rain locally in 24 hrs) without issue!! My previous gutter drainage was a 3x4 Fernco fitting straight to 4โ SDR pipe. The problems I had with that arrangement were that small amount of leaves would clog the fitting, or a tee downstream, and backup the water which would in turn soak my exterior home wall. I removed the Fernco fitting and cut the piping back to allow installation of a NDS 12โ Basin Extension, of which I concreted the bottom. I then had to remove my downspout and modify its projection off the wall about 1.5โ in order to fit the slope of the drain grate. I then fit up the downspout to overhang the top of grate by about 1-2โ to prevent splash back onto the house during heavy rainfall scenarios. This setup so far has been through Tropical Storm Beta (Iโm in Houston), and performed beautifully!

Gotta Catch em All
I have this at the end of a downspout that collects the water from 3 converging gutters. The volume of water makes for a lot of exit velocity and this catch basin is perfectly designed for the situation. It's nice a rigid even while being pounded by the outpour. The grates are a good size to allow for lots of water to enter but not leaves.
