just hit the light button once and it will light up and different colors will appear

Yes, it will either scroll through the colors or you can turn the light off. I haven't checked to see if it will do just one color at a time, as I like the different colors. And it's a soft transition to the different colors. Kind fades

Q: what is the warranty on this item?

I think it is 90 days. My diffuser stopped working and I contacted Amazon and was told it was out of replacement time frame. Purchased it in 06/22 stopped working in 09/22. Seller has made very little effort to help me.
