I've never owned anything like that, but use them (10s or 11s) successfully on several different acoustic guitars. They are quiet compared to round wound strings, or even the flat wound elixirs, but you don't screech all around the neck at all. Hope that helps. **Q: would these work for an acoustical guitar?** A: It's all about the tone you want. These strings sound "different" from typical acoustic strings, not as bright and not as loud, so I put them on my acoustic guitar to give them a whirl and I instantly thought I should take them off. However, after playing them for a few days I started to "work with them" and I have become a fan of these strings. They are silky smooth and are a joy to play. My fingers feel happy after playing and I have found new sounds that only these strings can produce on my acoustic. These strings have made me play cleaner and more volume-balanced (no notes "stick out" from the others) in a song unless I want them to. I have two acoustic guitars and one of them will always have these strings on! I have become partial to the unique sound these strings deliver. **Q: Why are these strings (d'addario ecg25 chromes) listed as upright bass strings when they are guitar strings?** A: Not sure. The best flat wound strings on the market, you might want to get 2-3 packs at once! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job admirably well for its price range. *by on Reviewed in India 18 October 2018* Smooth sound, zero fret noise and a great first flatwound purchase before you explore other more expensive brands like Thomastik Infeld or Sonotone strings. Dean Markley also has some very original engineered strings. Will stay long if you take care of it. I will recommend it.I also purchased the ECG26 medium guage pack its awesome too. Darker sounds that fits my playing style well. I hate to play on or pay for "regular" strings or the round variety anymore and anywhere. Flatwounds for life. ## Frequently Bought Together - D'Addario Guitar Strings - XL Chromes Electric Guitar Strings - Flat Wound - Polished for Ultra-Smooth Feel and Warm, Mellow Tone - ECG24 - Jazz Light, 11-50, 1-Pack - D'Addario Guitar Strings - XL Nickel Electric Guitar Strings - EXL110-3D - Perfect Intonation, Consistent Feel, Reliable Durability - For 6 String Guitars - 10-46 Regular Light, 3-Pack - D'Addario Accessories Pro-Winder Guitar String Winder, Cutter, Bridge Pin Puller - All in One Guitar Tool - Black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hu/products/344741518-guitar-strings-xl-chromes-electric-guitar-strings-flat-wound-polished](https://www.desertcart.hu/products/344741518-guitar-strings-xl-chromes-electric-guitar-strings-flat-wound-polished) --- *Product available on Desertcart Hungary* *Store origin: HU* *Last updated: 2026-10-21*
