It's more like a guide book which
Had very high expectations with this book. But was a turn down. It's more like a guide book which.

An education in equality - pay attention parents!
As a woman in her late thirties I realise that I'm 18-25 years older than this book's target audience but that didn't make it any less relevant. Many of the experiences of sexism quoted by young women and girls mirrored my own - sadly, society hasn't changed all that much since I was a teenager. In fact it's probably worse as teens today have far greater exposure to mass media and porn via the Internet. Bates tackles all these issues with her unique sense of humour and very down to earth explanations. As a mother of young children I feel that this is a valuable resource for helping parents (of boys as well as girls) identify the prevalence of sexist attitudes and behaviour in the society our children are growing up in and ensuring that our children grow to be educated, confident and respectful adults.

A depressingly insightful read
Should be read by all parents of pre-pubescent children in preparation for their teenage years. Navigating the gender issues for all genders requires parents to have a clue what the challenges are. It is not just girls this affects. Hopefully by the time these teenagers are parents, this book will have made itself obsolete.

Get it even if you do not know who Laura Bates is.
Bought this for my 17 year old niece and a quick read through suggests it is awesome!!! Has a forward by Emma Watson, which is a huge sign of credibility.I have been aware of the author for some time, via her website and her TED talk. This is a must read for all women, and a funny and eye opening read.

Disappointing
This was a book that was chosen for our book club. I have to say I found it poorly written, trite and superficial.

AMAZING
This book was everything I need. I've always thought myself pretty clued up on feminism/ sexism but this book was still such an eye opener. Wish I'd read this when I was sixteen and still so unsure.
