The Child's Story Bible

A MUST HAVE!
Please do not be fooled by the title! This “children’s Bible“ is excellent for all ages. I have given this to several teenagers who are not as familiar with the Bible as they wish they were. It is a very easy read, and gives some confidence in being familiar with the Bible stories. For quite some time I enjoyed a nightly devotion with my girls using this Bible. It was easy for them to read and easy for them to understand. I think it gave them a much-needed confidence boost where they could share the Bible with their friends. As an adult I enjoyed the read as much as they did. HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Makes a great gift! The book is of high quality as well

The best read-aloud Bible for kids that I’ve found
We purchased this Bible a few months ago and read a little bit aloud each day. We are about halfway through. My six and seven year old both love it and ask for me to keep reading. It doesn’t hold my 3 1/2 year-old’s attention very long. This is a great version for elementary aged kids. There have been a few details included in this version that I choose to skip over for my kids’ age, but it would be totally appropriate for them in a few years. I love how in depth this goes into the stories. Better than any other children’s Bible I have found. This is a wonderful in-between for kids who have outgrown storybook Bibles but are not quite ready for the actual Bible yet.

Like a little kids commentary!
I just love this story Bible!! It has the tone of a mother teaching her kids. My kids who usually don’t like books without many pictures, will sit and listen to this better than any picture Bible we have. We usually read the corresponding chapter(s) from the regular Bible and then follow with this, explaining that this is a woman helping us deepen our understanding of God’s Word which we just read. It truly has helped my kids grow and learn so so much!

Great for elementary age kids!
I really love this version for kids. It’s not babyish but it’s also not so in depth that it becomes boring. I also love that I don’t have to worry about what I’m reading as far as the “adult” parts go. They left those out but still give beautiful explanations for little ears.

Great for kids
Accurate Biblically. No pictures of Jesus ( as to not break the 2nd commandment). Nice graphics. Each chapter short.

Learn and Grow
How can you help your children see the entirety of Scripture in an easy and understandable way? The Child’s Story Bible is a classic retelling of Scripture for your family to treasure and enjoy.Warm and ClearVos has a simple yet mature way of writing. It is clear that she understands the Biblical stories at a deeper level, but she explains things in a way that children can understand. As an adult, I found her giving answers to questions I didn’t think to ask of the text – things that children don’t overlook and aren’t afraid to ask.The book is written as if Vos is writing directly to children. She is warm, but is clear on the commands and warnings in the Bible. The chapters are short and compelling. I found the book to be a page-turner.The Full Scope of the Biblical StoryBecause this book tackles the full scope of the Biblical story, you’ll read some unfamiliar texts in the Old Testament and be taken into the beginning of the early church. I especially appreciated the sections and the time the book spends in Numbers, Ezra, and Nehemiah, as well as Acts and ending in Revelation.Neil McArdle provides 26 full-color illustrations to give your imagination some help. Classics like Noah’s ark, David and Goliath, and Daniel in the lion’s den are included – but I liked seeing the feeding of the five thousand and Paul addressing the men of Athens on Mars Hill.Learn and GrowThis book would be perfect for your family devotions, bedtime stories, or quiet reading time. For new believers, this is a great way to be introduced to the stories in the Old Testament. For older saints, it’s an excellent way to remember and reflect on God’s Word in a new way.As I was reading, I was ashamed of how I often took my familiarity with God’s Word for granted as a young child. Now that I am older, I understand that there is still so much to read, see, taste, and glean from God’s Word. We can always be learning and growing as God’s children. This book is a beautiful help.I received a media copy of The Child’s Story Bible and this is my honest review.

If I forget to read it, my kids don't let me forget. The theology in it is very good as well.

This is a great story bible! The stories are comprehensive and all point to Jesus. There are no pictures, but the writing is beautiful! Definitely recommend.

too many assumptions
I was excited as it sounded like it would be a quality kids Bible but after reading 1/4 of it from the start I couldn’t stand the assumptions made about how any particular people “must be feeling.”I opted for two other options, I am not sure if it is bad taste to say which other ones I ended up going with so all I will say is I went with “real bible text” options. One is for younger ages (NLT) and the other for slightly older (CEV).We also started with a big picture bible by David Helm.I bought this Child’s Story Bible because I wanted more depth than the big picture one, as my son was older, but this one was quite a disappointment. I really wanted to love it because I love the look and feel of the book. But I can’t sacrifice on the clarity of Gods word.
