Second Chances
I've been reading Debbie Macomber books for as long as I can remember, and loved her Blossom Street, Cedar Cove and Rose Harbour series for their sense of community spirit where friends and neighbours look out for one another, so was eagerly anticipating that her latest book Any Dream will Do would be filled with the same community spirit I've come to expect in her stories.Any Dream Will Do is a story about second chances; a time for Shay Benson to put her past mistakes behind her and start afresh in a new city, and for widower Drew Douglas to start living his life again rather than just existing for the sake of his young children. A chance encounter brings Shay into Drew's church where he recognises a kindred soul in need and helps Shay find somewhere to live and work.Told in alternate chapters from the perspectives of both characters, we follow their stories as their paths cross on a regular basis and a friendship blossoms. But as expected in life, and a romance novel, nothing is ever quite straight forward and they have more than their fair share of dramas to deal with.I have to confess that despite being invested in what was going on with Shay and Drew, it was his children Sarah and Mark who stole my heart as it was obvious they were missing their mother and struggling without a female role model in their lives despite plenty of older women in their church community being around for them. There was one particular storyline with regards to Sarah and her hair that really struck me, something so small but it obviously meant such a big deal to her to ask Shay to do as it was something that her father struggled to do for her.Even though Any Dream Will Do was not the typical community spirit style of novel I've come to expect from Debbie Macomber, her wonderful, heartwarming storytelling drew me in until before I knew it I'd finished reading the book in a single sitting. I'll be interested to see what's in store for us next, more standalones or whether we're in for a treat and the start of a new series.

Another wonderful book, well worth a read
Yet another wonderful book from Debbie Macomber, one of the Authors whose books I but as soon as they are released, often having pre ordered them I wasn't disappointed in this book, as I knew I wouldn't be.Shay is released from prison after being caught for doing something her brother had pleaded with her to do. It's December and the weather is cold, the bits drops her off outside a church. With nothing better to do except walk the streets until the shelter opens she takes refuge in the warn church.Drew, Pastor Drew, is sitting in his church contemplating what to do. His wife, Katie had died recently and he was struggling, struggling with his congregation and also with bringing up his 2 young children Sarah and Michael.Fate takes a hand when Drew finds Shay a place in a program aimed at helping people like Shay. However, there's more to it than that and, unbeknowningly, Shay helps Drew to find his way again. This is their story. There are ups and downs, some people aren't happy with Drew's inclusion of Shay in his life, it's not all plain sailing. As usual with Debbie's books there is an underlying message in this lovely story, always take time to dream. It's well worth a read, I devoured it in 2 sessions, but it took alot of will power to put it down after the 1st session, I could quite as easily read it all in 1 go.

A charming story for a modern time
I was surprised with the edge, the darkness at the beginning of this book, not the usual sugary romance. The plot and the characters developed well, Shay is a more rounded character than Drew who is a little two dimensional. But towards the end I was beginning to get irritated with the plot and the bad luck that just kept happening. Obvious who the culprit was in the final crisis. Overall a good read but went on a bit long for the needs of the story

I can't write a review for this book as I have received my order yet. I accidentally ordered the kindle copy, order no. D01-458850-109866. On realsing what I had done I asked if you would cancel the kindle and forward me the book copy. This has not happened, and I have not received the kindle version, although you have charged my Mastercard.

Brilliant
I really enjoyed this book. Its a brilliant read. Sad at some stages, I cried a little too. I love when I can get so into a book it feels like real life. And I'm able to understand exactly what's they feel and I love that. Its all because of how skillful and beautiful Debbie's writing is. Highly recommend this book and all her other to!!
