Solid Brass fids, enables handy reconfigurations using removable, interchangeable extensions...
First, I should say that I do not create paracord bracelets I work mostly in large to very intricate leather projects, and occasionally have to work on various types of “ropes” for equine & marine use. I have a pretty substantial collection of fids and marlin spikes of all sizes and materials ranging from plastic to aluminum, marlin, and even wood. Some of the fids In my pile I have made myself, others have been purchased. (I have been at this for many decades.) ;-)With that said, I can tell you I know from experience that these TACAMO fids are well made, and well thought out!* I like that they are solid hard brass. - This practically eliminates corrosion (if used in salt water, be sure to rinse with fresh water before drying & returning to case). - Brass is strong and won’t break as readily as aluminum, wood, plastic, or some other materials. - Brass gives them a good weight that helps when you have to drop the line so it can unspin itself to avoid laying a twisted line. - Brass always looks good! Seriously though, you can smooth or polish brass pretty easily if you get any unplanned dings. (I’ve already polished my set because for my use they must have a nearly mirror smooth finish to avoid any scratching of the fine leather I use.)These fids do come with a thin film of oil that must be washed off with soap and water when you first get them. When I finished getting mine smooth, I protected them with a light coat of wax which also helps the fids glide through tight bites easier. ;-)I like that these were designed with interchangeable extensions to allow you to adjust their length to the bite at hand. I also think the knurling on the extension pieces can be very helpful, but they could also scrape your material as it brushes through a particularly tight bite, or knot. For this reason, I wish they would have included one each smooth extension, but I also know this would force the cost to be higher. I could buy a second set and file off the knurling thereby giving me a smooth set and a knurled set... hmm... have think about that. The leather case is a nice touch and helps to keep the set together.I just used these fids to restring the leather “shoe lace” in a pair of my Sperry boat shoes and they worked out perfectly for that as well! All right, that’s my review, I hope it has proven to be of use to at least one person. I’ll return and update it if I stumble across anything useful to this community.

Solid, Modular, Made in 'Merica
'Merica:If you're getting 'Merican paracord, why wouldn't you get 'Merican paracord tools to work them? This one is a rather complete set of tools you will need for any paracord project- not to say that I don't see any reason to get some of the ones from JigPro, but if you only had this set, you'd be able to manage all the jobs you needed.Solid:The brass is solid enough to not bend under stress. They're also easy to handle, and feel like real tools, not some mail-order regret waiting to happen.Modularity:The majority of the threaders also screw down at the half way point, to enable you to use a smaller size, when needed- smaller, but also without any checkering so it slides more easily through tighter spots. This is NOT to be underestimated in utility, for when working complicated patterns, like Turks Head or Spanish Ring Knots, you need custom adjustability to make it work. You can also borrow the extension from another threader and elongate the overall working end of the one you wanted to use... though I haven't seen the need for that, yet. At least it's an option, though.Other:The tap threading on the inside is very sharp, which makes it much easier to get the hardened end of the paracord to stick into them. just be sure to use the right diameter, or else you'll always be cursing your luck that they won't stay on.

Nice little set, but be careful
First of all, this is a great little set. Each piece has an extension on it that can be taken off if you need a shorter fid. That being said, the medium-sized flat fid snapped in half at the connection point the other day. I was applying a bit of force, but I did not expect it to snap in half. Now it's only usable as a shorty.
