My computer sits under my desk also. The usb and jack fit fine into the back of my computer with room to spare. The cords are at least 5 ft long.

Are there drivers for these speakers?

These are not smart devices needing a special "handshake". If you can hear the sound with regular headphones, and you also have a free USB port that has the standard 5v power, plug the speakers in and they will work. If you are missing either one, it won't.

Will this work with Chromebooks?

The program has nothing to do with it. You need both a free USB jack for power, and a working headphone jack. Missing either one, and it won't work.
