Surprised how rugged it turned out to be!
Bought this auger to use to run a water pipe under a sidewalk where I did not want the mess of using a hose to blast out a channel under the concrete. The auger worked surprisingly well although I had to rig up an extension to make it all the way across. You just have to go slowly and frequently pull out the auger to allow debris ejection otherwise debris will accumulate in the hole and jam things up. After successfully completing the project I used the auger to help my wife plant bushes in the yard. Amazingly, the auger handled some pretty rocky and root filled soil. Yes, the hexagonal tip on the shaft sheared off but the shaft still chucked up in the drill. BTW I'm using a Milwaukee 18 v Fuel brush-less drill/driver for this with the T-handle attached. It is rugged enough to handle the punishment that would probably kill most 18v drills out there (I have no connection to Milwaukee just mentioning the brand of drill because it will take a lot of punishment). Be careful or you can strain your wrist if you hit a rock or snag. Just put the drill in reverse and then go at it again. So far I have dug 20 holes with it that are 2 feet deep and about 18 inches wide. After using the auger to loosen things up, I use a post hole digger to remove the dirt from the hole when it is 1 foot deep. Then I drill down the second foot and use the auger to loosen things up. Then add compost and fertilizer to the hole and use the auger to mix everything up. Then the plant goes in and the dirt removed in the first step is mixed with compost and fertilizer in a 5 gallon bucket with the auger and then used to fill in the gaps along the side of the plant. All the welds are solid and the shaft is still straight despite having taken a LOT of punishment. Pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of this product and how much labor it has saved (along with my back)!

Auger drill for dirt and compost
Works well and clean most of the time. Would have been better if it was a bit wider.

Exceeds Expectations
I used this auger to drill about 35 holes for fence post sleeves in extremely hard, poorly drained clay soil during a drought year using a 1/2 inch hammer drill. It worked well right up until the end when the shaft snapped off at the drill chuck. When it hit even harder soil below, it would bind and the drill would torque my hands, but the auger held steady, until that happened. I continued to use it anyway and it still works, but is a little shorter. It does wobble, but that wasn't really an issue once it got into the ground a few inches. The tip and auger spirals lost paint, but otherwise held together and worked well. I may order another.

Hex tip Shreds
I read the review about the 7mm adapter. This was too small, and the 8mm was too big. 9/32 and 5/16 didn't work either. The chuck on my drill shreds the hex tip and I've already had to replace the auger due to not having any way for my drill to grip. Great Auger otherwise. If anyone knows how to prevent this please let me know.
