K618 Horus

This keyboard is flipping fabulous. I was just signing on to buy a new one because my cat spilled an entire cup of water on it, but now I'm going to write a review instead. With this keyboard, because I don't need a new one. This thing has more lives than my cat. To start, I like it enough to immediately want to buy a new one. I wanted a low-profile mechanical keyboard that isn't too "clicky". The red switches give it a soft tapping sound. It feels good to type on, although it is awkward when lying flat. The keys spring back nicely and are easy to press down. I wouldn't mind a little more resistance, but it types well as it is. I like the lights and backlight. The colors look good and there are several options, from rainbow keys to cycling through solid colors, which is what I have it on. The other color changing settings move a little too fast for comfort. The size of the markings and amount of light behind the keys is good. I also like the font used on the keys. I have a thing about fonts. It can toggle between mac and windows configurations and the appropriate keys are marked with windows commands, but the mac equivalents are also marked. If I really knew how to use the G and M buttons properly, I think they would be very useful. I like the roller in the upper right that adjusts volume. I use this hardwired to my computer. I use the 2.4G setting if I want wireless connection to my computer. This keyboard is actually compatible with my phone (iphone) on bluetooth. I can just toggle the switch for the connection options on the side and type on one device or the other. The bluetooth works well with the computer, too. It comes with spare switches, which are hot-swappable. It is really difficult to pull the switches out to replace them, but it's great to be able to replace them at all. This keyboard has survived at least five spills and been dropped a few times too. Sturdy and well-made are an understatement. I have had several keyboards over the years, including a couple Logitech ones (which did not survive the hazards of my home), and this is (probably literally) the last keyboard I need to buy.

I wanted a clean, low-profile mechanical keyboard that made me feel like I was “seriously working” instead of just aggressively refreshing emails and pretending I’m productive. First impression: sleek. Quiet. Satisfyingly clicky in that way that makes you type random nonsense just to hear it. The backlights is great, modifiable, it’s fill sized but not invasive, and the price was great. Then my dog got involved. Now, I don’t know what it is about this keyboard, but my dog has decided it is: 1. A heated bed 2. A judgment-free nap zone 3. Personally engineered for maximum belly support Every time I sit down, he appears like a silent roommate who pays no rent but controls the thermostat. He’ll climb up, spin in a circle like he’s calibrating satellite alignment, and fully pass out on the keys. Which would be cute… if he wasn’t also a chaos goblin. Because here’s the problem: this keyboard is sensitive. Not “oops I hit caps lock” sensitive. More like “your dog shifted 2 inches and just typed an email to your boss that says ‘ffffffffff’” sensitive. I’ve left my PC unlocked exactly once while stepping away to grab coffee. I came back to: * A browser full of random tabs * A half-written document titled “asdfasdfasdfasdf” * My cursor mysteriously highlighted over something important enough that I immediately felt fear without knowing why Lesson learned. Now I either: * lock my screen like I’m protecting state secrets * or physically relocate the dog like I’m moving a priceless artifact Keyboard itself? Solid. Feels great. Wireless modes are smooth, wired is stable, RGB is aggressively confident without being a nightclub. But buyer beware: if you have a pet, this becomes less of a keyboard and more of a shared emotional support workstation. Would recommend. Just don’t trust your dog with administrative privileges.

I was in the market for my first mechanical gaming keyboard and there were only 3 requirements I wanted; Red mechanical keys since I don't like keys to be overly clicky for gaming, secondly I wanted a volume roller, not buttons, so I could easily adjust on the fly and lastly I wanted the keyboard to be LOW PROFILE since I don't tall keys. My first choice was the CORSAIR K70 RGB MK.2 low profile and then I found out it's discontinued but there are used versions of it available on eBay for around $120 and higher, I also noticed some Razer and other brands with those 3 requirements but those were $200+, then yesterday by chance I found this Redragon K618 which had all those 3 check marks and it was only $49.99 on Amazon on sale, it seemed to good to be true so I ordered it and thanks to Prime I got it today around noon and all I can say is for the price it's an amazing keyboard. The red cherry keys are smooth and linear and not too clicky just how I wanted, it's low profile and and the volume roller is perfect. For $50 I think this just might be one of, if not the best low profile gaming keyboard out there. Oh and it also has the added benefit of being wireless too if you need to unplug it and be at a distance from your PC. Would have been an easy 5 stars but unfortunately the Redgragon software doesn't recognize the K618 for some reason. Tried multiple reinstalls, different USBc cables, nothing worked. Then I googled it and saw a Reddit thread of others saying they have the same problem with the app not detecting this particular model. Not the end of the world since there are still buttons on the keyboard itself to change the color patterns and color choices physically yourself but it doesn't give all the options that the app would like adding shortcuts, macros, etc. I still love it though and am keeping it.

This was fiddly from the start. Its effective range from the wifi dongle is absurdly short or inconsistent. I bought it for the purposes of wireless, but ended up plugging it in. If you have a home theater setup, the distance from the PC to your seating will be too great to use it as wireless. After just a month of corded use, the keys are now either overly sensitive or are too difficult to get a response from. The letter 'D' right now is often just not typing at all. Press very hard and it works. Also the macro keys aren't very customizable. You can't map basic functions like pause, play or skip. It would be nice to be able to just turn these into media keys in the software. I mainly bought this for the audio wheel and what I thought were programmable media keys. The auio wheel functions well and did not disappoint. The lighting effects are cool. But I need the keyboard itself to be reliable for key presses. And this isn't reliable, so I can't recommend.

Love the keyboard. The low profile is exactly what I wanted! I have had no issues with the keys or lag or anything. After 6 months I haven't had to replace any of the switches. The programmable modes and macros have been flawless for me. The connection types have been seamless across my devices. Two downsides that are making me consider another keyboard. It goes to sleep after 1 minute. That's fine and all, but it takes at least 1 extra keystroke to wake it up and not all the keys will do that. For example, the arrows keys won't wake it up from sleep but the Enter key will. I'm a software developer, I often stop for more than a minute and waking it up every time is getting to me. I have not been able to circumvent the sleep mode with the USB cable. Seems like whether I have it hardwired or on wireless/Bluetooth it will always sleep. Second is the battery life. I'm charging it after 2 days. I'm not using any light effects other than multi-colored, always on. Even with the sleep mode I have to plug it in 2 days later for a few hours. While 2 days may seem like it's fine, it starts to disable features when the battery is low. The light effects are half-activated (only lights the keys you touch, then fades out), some of the custom programmed buttons aren't selectable anymore. So I keep it plugged in to avoid having to remember I need to charge it every other day to maintain full function. And it still falls asleep after a minute. Overall, good keyboard for casual use. If you are using it sporadically all day I would consider a different one.

I have sensitive hands after my car wreck back in 1996 and must have a bvoard that is easy to use and soft tot he touch. I prefer chocolate or chicklet keys, but they are hard to maintain. Thsi board took some geting used to and I had to put the rubber dampers under the keycaps, but it is really not all that bad. The keys are soft and smooth and I can type for a good while without pain. I learned very quickly that Redragon has some hidden features in their higher end boards that they don't include in the manual ((I don't care to have to find out stuff like that with no included instructions *Batteries not included) kind of thing)).. like holding Fn+W causes the WASD to change over to the arrow keys or back.. kind of did that by accident. It is really nice to have an on KB function key for the calculator again, I've missed that. I have had a few other Redragon products over the years and have been far less satisfied than I am with this board. FYI folks... Be sure the product says that it uses the "Pro Software" as their regular soft is annoying and lacks essential features, including firmware updates. The pro soft is no bother at all and is not even necessary to run after you program this board. Bluetooth connects just fine, but I have not tested the Wi-fi dongle. Some folks have questioned the metal top... It's a bit thinner than some, but is still sturdy and I have no complaints. I have tested the key puller and used the cap puller to put on the keyboard dampers. The actual key puller is a bit tricky and I am considering buying a better one for future use, but it works... just take care to not scratch the surface fo the board and be patient.. The key wiiiiiil come out.. it's just in there rather tightly. It is an A+++++ mention that they send tbothy pullers and 5.. count it FIVE replacement keys with this model.. I didn't like the cheap cord they sent with it.. REALLY cheap and short, so I got a nice one, at least it was a right angle cord at the KB side. The box presentation is very nice and smooth and sleek in design... I really appreciated the aesthetics, and the inner packing was quality.. The price point is also, most excellent.. You just can't beat $41.99 for a keyboard this decent with genuine Cherry MX keys and all the accessories.. You can easily find additional replacement keys online from aliexpress, just look fro REDRAGON SMD RGB MX Low Profile 5.5 switch. One last thing.. When you go to the website to DL the soft be sure to get the "Cherry MX" model of the soft or it won't see the Keyboard.. In conclusion.. This is a good keyboard and I can logically satisfactorily recommend it. Take care fo ti and it will last you a long time. Namaste.

The keyboard itself looks fantastic, it *looks* highly efficient. HOWEVER -- it's essentially impossible to get this keyboard to be compatible with the Redragon software, regardless of where you look and what you download. I had a Redragon customer support agent send me the software link for this exact keyboard and it ended up bricking it, making it entirely unusable and useless. Not a single K618 Pro or Horus software will work with this keyboard, so you can't access all the functionalities it claims to have, nor can you customize the RGB correctly (because, as said, the software doesn't work.) The entire keyboard can only glow one color when using SignalRGB. The scroll wheel does not work with Bluetooth, it has to be wired. The "T" and "K" keys get stuck quite frequently and delay their inputs, and the backspace continuously deletes more than it should. And to top it all off, as said earlier, the keyboard became bricked when downloading the OFFICIAL software for it. Utterly useless. Do not buy this -- if you want a Redragon keyboard, buy it from the official website.

So I ordered this keyboard yesterday and got it yesterday evening. I've been using it ever since and it is a joy to type on. These Red switches are just so much better than the brown or blue in my opinion. They are WAY less fatiguing, yet they still feel satisfyingly clicky without being loud, if that makes sense. This keyboard has a super slim layout though it is full size. I'm not one of those guys that can do without my number pad. It feels premium and it is made of aluminum on top. I've had $140 keyboards that did not feel this nice. The keys are really thin. If you are one of those gaming nerds who like to replace keycaps, this is not for you. Redragon, nor anyone else I could find, make custom keycaps for this keyboard. During the day I downloaded the software and user manual so I could be familiar with the keyboard. It took maybe 2-3 minutes to set up. The software will not recognize the keyboard unless it's plugged in with the cable. Once it does, the customization with this software feels endless. You can assign a different color to each key if you want to, though I don't see why anyone would, but still. If you are into macros you can store 5 per macro key, to which there are 4 macro keys. I guess if you use more than 20 macros you probably are not going to be using this keyboard. It also has the normal multimedia buttons, along with a very premium feeling volume knob, made of etched metal (or at least it feels that way). I paid $50 for this with same-day shipping, which to me, was a steal. Oh, it also comes with 6 extra switches and a keycap puller/remover thingie. Is it the best gaming keyboard in the world? Naaa, but it is darn good, and I totally enjoyed typing this review (for a change). I may even try one of their mouses/mice. EDIT: After 24 hours with this keyboard, I feel I may have to return it. The biggest reason is probably that it goes to sleep after a minute and renders the volume control inoperable. Also, the range on the USB receiver is not the best. I am using Bluetooth, which works OK so far, with just a few hiccups. The second biggest thing is the macro buttons are not lit, and I use this in the dark a lot with multimedia, especially with my NVIDIA Shield TV, so I need to see those buttons. The volume knob is also very important, and it not working after only a minute is not the best thing for my needs. I've taken off a star for each of those things. It's a shame too, because I enjoy typing on this keyboard, it's a dream. I also love the custom layout I made with the software. It's cool looking. Besides the macro buttons, this thing is built very well, oozes quality, and is worth the price, if the two things that affect me are no big deal to you. I wish they were to me! EDIT: 7/2024 I had a problem with the keyboard and reached out to them. They responded within hours, and even though I fixed the problem myself, they made sure I was taken care of.

Was in need for a cheaper replacement of my Corsair K68. The USB-C cable is too short for my workplace, so i advise you to buy a longer cable. No overkill of options like corsair has. Happy customer so far. Will check out more products of Redragon.

Purtroppo devo assegnare solo 3 stelle perché la digitazione non offre un buon feedback tattile. I tasti sono estremamente sensibili, il che porta spesso a digitazioni errate. Questo è un vero peccato, perché il prodotto ha del potenziale: il software, pur non essendo il più accattivante a livello estetico, risulta comunque funzionale. Apprezzo la presenza dei tasti programmabili, ma purtroppo soffrono di un leggero ritardo e la loro posizione, troppo in alto, li rende scomodi da raggiungere. Sarebbero stati molto più pratici se posizionati verticalmente sulla sinistra. Nel complesso, è un prodotto con buone idee, ma con difetti evidenti negli switch scelti. Potrebbe essere utile a chi preferisce una pressione molto leggera sui tasti, magari per lunghe sessioni di scrittura, ma per chi cerca un'esperienza di digitazione più precisa e reattiva, potrebbe non essere la scelta migliore.

Je ne peux que recommander ce clavier Redragon K618 Horus (Layout US, switchs Red) ! C'est un véritable produit de confiance : cela fait maintenant 4 ans qu'il tourne non-stop chez moi, et il fonctionne toujours comme au premier jour. Il encaisse parfaitement le travail quotidien et les sessions de jeu intensives sans faillir. La connexion Tri-Mode (sans fil / Bluetooth / câble) est hyper pratique et le rétroéclairage RGB rend super bien. Pour cette tranche de prix, la longévité et les performances sont tout simplement impressionnantes. Si vous cherchez un clavier mécanique complet, ultra robuste et durable, vous pouvez foncer les yeux fermés. Je recommande vivement !
