G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero - The Complete First Series [DVD]

Complete original series, great memories, split in 2 8 disc cases, no overlapping discs. First set delivered damaged, Amazon replaced immediately and in perfect condition. Great price, great nostalgia.

My 7 year old nephew rediscovered my old battle scarred 12 inch G.I. Joes and promptly bought himself some used ones from an antique shop with his allowance. Because of that I bought this DVD box set so that he could watch the original series. I was already considering buying it for myself for a long time but after watching the first episode with him today I am glad that I gave it to him as a gift. He's going to be a G.I. Joe fan for a long time. Yo Joe!The first episode looked great for its age! If everything else plays with the same quality I highly recommend purchasing this if you want to watch the first season of G.I. Joe. I look forward to watching the old PSAs and toy commercials too.

I had hedged on getting this for quite a while because felt like a Blu-ray set (should be) inevitable but with no news on the horizon and with the recent (2020) relaunch of the toy line I finally pulled the trigger and picked this up.I was pleasantly surprised (even impressed) by the image quality - which if you have an upscaling 4K player is about as good as anyone could hope for. Shout Factory did an excellent and obviously affectionate job mastering these and if you're a fan you will not be disappointed. There is no way a streaming service would present these as well.I haven't dove into the bonus materials but it appears at least some creator interviews are there alongside the shows. One fun thing from watching just the first episode - - - the commercial intro/outro sequences are embedded in the episodes. Made me grin. The whole thing is a fun time capsule.

What do I think of this collection? "G.I. Joe is the code name for Hasbro's daring, highly ranked DVD collection. It's purpose... to put you to sit back as the Joe's Team fights the most venomous of all terrorist organizations, COBRA!" Like the terrorist organization portrayed in these cartoon DVDs, this set of DVDs of the cartoon TV series is SO good it's determined to "rule the world!" So, as Sgt. Slaughter roared at us on the TV screen,"be ready at 0500 hours because if you ain't... WE'LL START WITHOUT YOU!"

I guess this is the best, most complete version you can get, so I give it a perfect score.

Fun series! Glad to get the entire run of the sunbow series along with the safety tips from the joes. Quality is still good but not remastered. Only thing really missing is the movie, but it is what it is!

I don't know what happened with the shipping, but I do realize that it was busy during the holidays. I order a few dvds and this one came with a broken case. It basically shatter in 2 pieces. Fortunately, the discs were in undamaged.
