Bikers' Europe: 60 must-ride motorcycle routes Paperback – May 29, 2021

Right now with all the travel restrictions is is only in my dreams I am doing these rides but I cannot wait to use this next year. It is just so well laid out in terms of setting a starting point for each ride, describing the route in detail and things you should check out. The killer feature for me is that each ride starts and finishes in the same place which makes planning accommodation easy and also means you don't have to drag all your gear with you every day as it is essentially a series of 'day trips'.

I've been using Simon Weirs UK route books for a good few years and built many of his road recommendations into my own routes which I save on a web service before downloading into the SatNav. I was so excited to see this book via Simons Twitter account and bought it straight away, it is a great quality item with some hints and tips for new riders but mostly just filled with routes which look fantastic and I am very excited to include some of them as I plan my next EU trip once we are allowed back over there. Great buy for anyone interested in getting the best riding out of EU trips. If you haven't got his UK books, you should buy them too. Lovely lovely lovely.

Whilst the content is always well researched the production of the book itself is poor. No ring spine like the uk edition, and the print colour is washed out, not sharp and seems zoomed out. It reminds me of a poor photocopy or home print-out. On the subject of the focus of the book - Europe - whilst the format is similar to the uk edition, I feel there isn’t sufficient breath or depth for a territory way bigger than the uk. It doesn’t have enough detail to be used as a travel planner or companion in the same way the uk one can be.

It would be perfect in a binded format like the author's older Bikers Britain. The content is good but usability is a letdown compared to previous editions. It was great to have in a tank bag open at the exact route you needed. Unfortunately can't do this with this book 😒

I’ve been a great fan of Simon Weir’s route guides (previously in Ride magazine and in Simon’s 2 UK books) for nearly a decade and have enjoyed riding many of his routes from Northern Scotland to Southern Spain and across mainland Europe from west to east.There are some great roads in this book and I will incorporate some of them in the trips that I am planning for 2022.Handily, the routes can be downloaded (for a small fee each) from Simon’s website in GPX form to load onto your satnav, but you’ll still need to buy the book to read his valuable comments and descriptions, turn by turn guidance, and drool over pictures of the roads and sceneryThanks very much for publishing this Simon. I see that it is titled “Volume 1” - I shall be keeping watch for volume 2 and buy a copy as soon as it’s available!

Simple guide with 2 pages per route. Each description gives the route, things to see en route and places to stop for coffee or lunch. Most are day trips with some as trips from A to B taking longer.A great planner to use for your next trip.As a bonus, gpx files are available on the author’s website.
